2028 xander edwards

Here's my interview with Xander from his spring visit

On watching practice:

"It was great, I went here a month ago, and it was a walkthrough so getting the getting able to see the intensity of an actual practice, it was great."

"It's very intense, coach Cristobal is a very intense guy, he's doing a great job with the Miami program, I'm excited to see a game this year."

On RB coach Favian Upshaw:

"Coach Upshaw is a great guy, great coach, really knows what he's doing, helping out the younger guys." and it's a great, great, great room of guys in the running back room.

"He really wants the running back to be like the heartbeat of the team. He was a quarterback at George Southern so he really knows what he's doing. He calls the running back the second quarterback, because we can see everywhere on the field what the defense is doing."

"He's really good at the X's and O's, knows like the protections and stuff. He's been here a couple months, so excited to see what he's going to do in the future."

On top schools in his process:

"Miami is definitely one of my top choices right now, Florida, FSU, you know, those type of schools, but I'm still young, every school has a chance with me so far, so looking forward to visit more schools, visit some games during the season."

On what stands out about Miami:

"They've been showing a lot of interest in me, they've been telling me that they want me the most so far, the hospitality they've shown me is great."

"Coach Cristobal, Coach Upshaw, all the recruiting guys have been doing a great job with me so I'm excited to keep building this relationship in the future."

On relationship with former Bolles teammate and Miami OL JJ Sparks:

"He's given me some information about it, he loves it here, so there's no reason why I shouldn't love it here. It's great to catch up with my former teammates. Love him to death, hopefully be a teammate with him in the future."

Rivals300 2028 Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles running back Xander Edwards was a standout in his position group......He’s a bigger, muscular back at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds and would fit in really well at a place like Miami. However, he also flashes as a pass catcher and is very capable of being a receiving threat out of the backfield.

Notre Dame legacy

**** i completely missed/disregarded this information earlier.

We’ll see how much this 8 month headstart we have matters in the end. Given his father’s accolades at ND, tough to see it mattering too much this far out from signing day.

Other potential wildcards besides Miami: UNC because his dad won a Super Bowl under Belichick, LSU as his dad played under ND Alum Charlie Weiss in New England; Jr is the current LSU OC.

But yeah, likely GG’s on this one. Seems like we’ll be seeming him on the other side down the line.

UM fans need to appreciate that about the only other school that has as loyal a following from former players as UM, is ND.

The ND alumni are a lot like the UM alumni. And if their kids are good enough to play at ND, they are going to ND. The only way we are getting an ND legacy is if ND doesn’t want the player as much as we do. But if ND makes this young man a priority recruit, he is going to ND.
