X and O guys - Why all the inside runs?

I’m not a hardcore X and O guy...but I do appreciate the guys here who are and post that educational info.

My question: in your opinion (Or game analysis) why do we run soooo many inside handoffs?? I know many are off the RPO, which is fine. But it seems, when the middle is being stifled (like today), a toss or stretch run might soften up the middle and help the run game get going.
