WTF was that?

Instead of going 20 to 30 yds to kick a fg to win with a minute and a half left.. we take it to overtime.
Corching at its best... honestly,

i didn't believe Mario was a walking blunder on gameday until today. Gave him.the benefit of the doubt for GT and,Oregon debacles..

But today was proved me wrong.. he really lacks it.. He makes Radio look like Don Shula

This kid STAYS in the film room. Makes NO Mistakes. Yes we won, despite Mario playing for a tie. This kid won't throw crushing INTs. While TVDs playing Golf...this kid studies.
I'm glad you can fortune tell. You're one those hard headed people.

You are incorrect in your assessment. If our true freshman was so trustworthy and impossible to make a mistake, then why did we have a conservative game plan in the 1st plac?. You can't be conservative for the entire game and then say, "Emory, go win us the game."

Secondly, he did throw an interception. It wasn't his fault. George didn't finish his route. Which again is my point. Anything bad could have happened trying go for a longshot win with 22 seconds left. You're reasoning doesn't hold water.

The time, distance, and experience dictated going to OT.

That's not how it played out. You're leaving out the context. They were going for the win. They ran a couple of plays to see how the drive would develop. They took too long on one play that burned 20 seconds off the clock. At that point it made sense just to go to OT.

You also have to take into account how your team is playing. We were dominating Clemson in the trenches running on them and stopping the run. We had momentum. There was no need to take unnecessary risks after the clock got burned.

It played out in OT exactly the same as the 4th quarter.

I've never seen a fanbase so unhappy with a win.

They did exactly what they needed to win.

Celebrate and be happy!!!

Not sure why. Bye
You coming with me?

I’m glad Mario got called out again on the broadcast. How do you get the ball with the game tied, with one timeout and about 1:34 left, and you play for OT
Just think about the meltdown had we lost.

He doesn’t even try to win a game that’s tied with the conditions you said, but also doesn’t take a knee in a game he has won.

What reality does he live in?

yeah i know mario's got a pretty deserved bad rap on this stuff but there's every chance that this was a true frosh QB who was a gametime decision start not having the 2min offense under his belt and mario choosing to play for OT.
Nah. The playbook was finally opened for him in the fourth-quarter, when there was no choice, and we saw Williams make a number of nice throws, including a great touchdown pass. At the end all we needed was about 40 yards in a minute and a half to get an opportunity for a bomb field goal.

I don’t have a problem with letting Williams get used to the speed of a game against Clemson. Let him get his feet wet in a real game against a real opponent with a good defense. Let Dawson get a feel for what Clemson is doing in the game. I don’t know why it took 3 quarters to do that but I don’t get paid to make those choices.

What Mario and Dawson were hoping for was that Miami would pop one on the ground, giving them a legit chance to have Williams take a shot. One could also argue that Mario was trying to keep that TO in pocket in case a FG became a possibility. It's beyond obvious that they had no faith in EW being able to manage a 2 minute drill, and I don't blame them. They didn't run tempo with him for a reason, he isn't there yet in regards to his install.

Hasselbeck is a hack, and it's amazing that our fanbase, most of whom back everyone EXCEPT the program they allegedly give a crap about buys his nonsense. This isn't not taking a knee, it's looking at what you have and not doing something stupid. Miami was DOMINATING Clemson up front, in a controlled environment, it makes sense to go to OT and continue to pound away. Keep in mind that Miami was the team with momentum, scoring 10 points in the final quarter to tie it. Analytics show that if you are the team that came back, playing for OT, especially when at home usually works out well.

Exactly. Miami also had all the momentum going into OT, AT HOME. Miami was the team that tied it up late, Miami wasn't the team that blew the lead. If this was the opposite, Miami had blown the lead and was in Death Valley, then you play to win in regulation because the odds are against you winning in OT.
