Wrong comparison. A QB with a shuttle time faster than any WR on the team and decent hands, who learned the playbook front and back and has all the WR routes committed to memory, and is given 2 weeks to prepare is as likely to be third on the depth chart as a slot receiver over a WR who has either played the X or Z since middle school, is struggling with the playbook, ans doesn't have a clue about the route tree for a slot receiver.

Wait, is this a serious question? Lmao the QB knows the routes of every receiver on the field. On which team does the QB and WR learn different playbooks 😂

Probably because it’s the natural reaction to the gifting and unearned hype or “love” other fans give him. Both extremes feed each other.

I wouldn’t even say it is “love” or “hate”, it’s really gifting the benefit of doubt as opposed to denying the privilege of benefit of doubt.

I mean he knows all the routes for all the wr's since he was a QB but the rest of your sentiment I get.
 
People keep saying it was because Pope went done and we had no one else to play the slot but explain why only 5 of his 15 snaps were from the slot? 8 more from out wide. This was part of the gameplan, not some desperation thing after Pope went out that it's being made out to be.

I hope they rethink how they want to use him. When Dallas is Inna wildcat I'm all for having Tate in there as an added dimension and maybe we see him throw a pass out of that one game. But I don't get having him out there if Jarren is in at QB.

I mean..but it’s true. I think a lot of our fans who are saying Tate shouldn’t have on the field aren’t taking into account that for one, Mark Pope was hurt..two, Tate knows the playbook and all the responsibilities of each wr on whatever call. And 3 Peyton has played outside his whollleee life..you can’t pretend that doesn’t play a role..for instance, Larry Fitz even brought the adjustment to him playing the slot was like training for a new position. The route depth is not the same, the footwork is different and the knowledge of the plays just for the slot is like learning a whole new position..so yes, I’d rather have a kid in Tate who knows at least what to do and where to be

I just watched the game on YouTube and if you didn’t know who 18 was the only thing that made him look out off place was him being a white WR for Miami..love u Braxt)
 
All off season we had to hear how Martell was the best QB. Now we have to hear how he is the most athletic slot receiver and better than players that had played the position their entire lives after just two weeks playing it. LoL

It sounds like you think the WR are interchangeable. Maybe they are in high school but not in a modern college or Pro offense.

I don't know if he knows but I do know they've all got Enos' playbook the same time. I know the QB has to know all the plays of the WR positions as well as their own. I also know that you don't know who knows it better. Only the coaches who have been working with them in spring and fall know.

It will only become apparent to us by observing the results on Saturdays.

That would be telegraphing the play. Most wildcats have the element of surprise. You have to have him run a route now and them even if it was to maintain pretense.

You don’t know if Tate knows the whole playbook for the QBs and you do not know if Tate knows the entire playbook for WR, and especially not the apparent nuances of the slot that you just magnified, despite him only having 2 weeks to learn something you just described as very difficult.

If it’s a plausible argument that Tate may have finished 3rd in the QB competition then what would stop someone who didn’t witness the competition from assuming that one of the factors that led to his 2nd or likely 3rd place finish was his lack of knowledge of the playbook? Why is it a given that he knows the playbook? Has it ever been portrayed that N’Kosi has ever grasped the entire playbook? And it was actually insinuated that Jarren didn’t know/grasp the entire playbook last year as well. Ohio State runs 10 plays to perfection, I know because I’m from Ohio and can watch their boring games whenever I want on regional TV coverage. Enos’ playbook is definitely more didactic than the Suckeye’s.

Also, I had no problem with Tate in the game. I thought it was hilarious and did work as a decoy on 2 plays. Keep the dude engaged, there’s plenty of reps to be played during a season.
