I like Herman. He's a very bright guy. He's confident & arrogant - which I think would be an asset as a HC at a place like Miami. I don't mind that he'd runs a spead O - I have little concern that Miami's O and QB play wouldn't be successful under Herman's tutelage.

My only concern about him is his defense. The Cougars run a 3-4. Is Herman's D the best way to maximize S. Florida talent? I don't know. So far this year, the Cougars offense has been a machine. However, while the Cougars D hasn't been terrible, it's also struggled at times.

UM needs to be on this guy or Butch RIGHT NOW!!! No waiting til the end of the season to evaluate. Scour every penny for either of them plus a high quality staff. We've had 4 1/2 end of the seasons to evaluate and if James can't evaluate given all that then he needs to be shown the door before Butch or Herman comes through the door here.

But winning is not supposed to matter to me? I don't know if I'll ever be able to grasp that. Forget the awards. You should want to be the best at whatever your chosen field is. I want my kids to win. Winners get the corner office, the big house, the hot wife, the whole nine. I said that at commencement. Then I said that the people who don't win, they get cubicles, the hoopty ride, the not-so-hot wife.

The best part about that article is that the branding and off the field acumen is really just a supplement to being known as a technical football guy. He's likely to succeed wherever he goes.

Miami can get him if they want. His salary isn't the obstacle it's Miami selling him on reviving the program. Unfortunately it takes competence and drive to get this kind of coach and we as a program lack both.

Has Herman ever had success offensively with a concrete-footed QB? Ward is an insane athlete, JT Barrett was an excellent runner as was Braxton Miller. Cardale Jones isn't a burner, but he's a good powerful runner who did a lot of damage with his feet in last year's championship run.

No we are not. We will be if Butch will donate 4-5 years of his time toward retirement to bridge us to a guy like Herman, but by then Herman will likely be out of our willing price range.

Never said it was the same, but Meyer is arguably the best in the business right now next to Saban. I'd venture to say he was mentored properly at OSU, but just my opinion..

McElwain worked under Saban.................went to Colorado State........Kicked ***......then UF went and got him.

Again, Herman has not done sh*t. I am not saying he isn't bright.....he needs to show something as a head coach.
