Another thing:

Butch does not have to mention 30 for 30.............He Lived It!

Got that!

But winning is not supposed to matter to me? I don't know if I'll ever be able to grasp that. Forget the awards. You should want to be the best at whatever your chosen field is. I want my kids to win. Winners get the corner office, the big house, the hot wife, the whole nine. I said that at commencement. Then I said that the people who don't win, they get cubicles, the hoopty ride, the not-so-hot wife.

The best part about that article is that the branding and off the field acumen is really just a supplement to being known as a technical football guy. He's likely to succeed wherever he goes.

All coaches say or write something similar. Can they get it done?

Herman was on with Jack Arute the other day. Very impressive. Also, had them play Ghetto Boys as his bumper music, cause they are from Houston. Won me over immediately

Only worry I have is it's his first season at Houston. Any chance he'd be willing to take the job at Miami? He seems to be all-in on building up the Houston program.

Houston 2013:

Total Offense: 55
Scoring Offense: 37

Houston 2014:

Total Offense: 58
Scoring Offense: 60

Houston 2015:

Total Offense: 15
Scoring Offense: 17

OSU Total Off: 9th With Him, 75th Without Him

Small sample size but noteworthy

Herman sure as **** got it done as the co-OC, QB coach, and playcaller when Ohio State was down to their third-string QB making the first three starts of his career when that offense scored 59, 42, and 42 over Wisconsin, Alabama, and Oregon on their way to a national title last season.

And he's currently well on his way to exceeding first-year expectations at Houston. His head-coaching experience is obviously limited, but Herman is a stud.

Another note: Herman talks about building a fence around Houston and is already signing 4 and 5 star D-line prospects from the area…at UH. Imagine what he'd do at Miami.

He's all in on Houston until a better gig comes up. He doesn't want to be in the Group of 5 for long.

I'd take him, but why leave Houston for Miami? Are we really a step up at this point?

I'd be more concerned about whether Miami would be willing to pay his buyout and offer a competitive salary. Herman's buyout is less than 1/3rd the size of what McElwain's was at CSU and he currently makes over $1 million less than Golden per year. But UF cares about winning and UM's administration hasn't for a long time.

Miami will probably prefer some tired retread who isn't in demand elsewhere because they'll come cheaper.

Miami is obviously an upgrade over Houston; however, is it the upgrade Herman is looking for after one year?

Got to admit I like him more after reading that. My favorite was "I want my kids to win. Winners get the corner office, the big house, the hot wife, the whole nine. I said that at commencement. Then I said that the people who don't win, they get cubicles, the hoopty ride, the not-so-hot wife."

Still, I think Butch has already bind there done that. He will come here to win NC and nothing else. If we can't get Butch, I could live with giving this guy a shot -- but I want know want defense he will run first. And I am a little nervous that he is bragging a little about losing the best QB recruit in last 30 years.

This dude's ego seems healthy enough that he sees Miami as the program he can win a national title with, whereas Houston is literally excluded from that conversation until they join a bigger conference, which is unpredictable.

Big recruiting backyard, terrible division in a Power 5 conference, good QB already in place...

He is trying to be Miami in Houston; why not do it in Miami. If you see a hot chick with blonde hair, would you prefer to buy a blonde wig for a ball ugly girl you know or run down the hot chick?
