WR options?

They do seem to have a type of WR core they prefer

George -> Marion -> Jacobs (the speed guy)

Restrepo -> Toney (the elite slot, shifty good hands)

Horton -> Daniels -> ??? (The more physical possession wr with better size)

they keep saying #1 and dont realize the slot and Mali Toney is #1 in Dawsons offense its annoying as ****
I just edited the thread since I didn't intend 'WR1' as our best WR. I was actually thinking of a starting X, which most consider WR1 in their offenses.

Now that we have 3-4 younger X types, we may want to focus on back-up for Z and bodies that can push the X/Y guys.

to be fair this is the best i’ve felt about the future of the room since mario has been here. i think moore and upshaw can play. i wouldn’t be surprised to see wingo win the job cause he’s gonna play early

That’s why I’m not trippin like a lot of ppl on here over hitting big early in the portal. It’s been a day. Even with the recent defections I think this staff has an idea what will work. This upcoming offseason will be as exciting as getting Cam Ward. I have never been this optimistic that we will find qb. And I have put my past hopes in Brock Berlin. Kyle Wright. Jacory coming in to put us over the top. 😄 So if it’s Jacobs adding a little bit plus maybe a…..Marsh I’m down (prolly won’t be Marsh)

Need more than this South Carolina kid. Far from a #1.
The #1 in Dawsons offense has always been and will always be the SLOT, and Baby Jesus, is already on the roster.

It has been proven at every stop in Dawsons career that the slot receiver in his offense gets the most targets and yards, just look Tank Dell in Houston and X his 2 years under Dawson, they were both the #1 receiver in those offenses, same way Tony will be the #1 WR in this offense until he declares for the draft.

This team needs complimentary receivers who can stretch the field, to prevent teams for keying on Mail (how we have seen during the playoffs) and loading the box to stop the run.

It does not make any sense at all to spend north of $3million on a receiver to get the second most targets on the team.

Idk why you think Upshaw can't play in the slot
Upshaw would be a beast in the slot. That’s actually a great idea, he will be the perfect backup to Tony and will allow the staff to redshirt Vance so he can gain some weight and fully recover from injury.

We know the blueprint the staff is taking to build the team, they r not spending crazy for RB or WR. They r leaning into development. Obviously that can either bite them in the *** or work out, it depends on how the room develops.

A lot of the young guys show potential, but potential is just the start. In order for this room to be better than last season the young players are gonna have to put in the work this offseason to further develop. The Jacobs kid is alright, but he even needs to further develop if he’s gonna come in and be a starter. Terrell Harris would be my pick.
