WR next year

I'd be worried. KJ Osborn walked in and been WR1 since Day 1. Thats troubling. Also troubling is the fact we bent over backwards for Jeff Thomas to come back and be our WR2. We've had several other players leave the program...we can have discussions about their situations, but surely you're buying 50 cents on the dollars with those players.

Lots of projected late round types at best right now. KJ Osborn and Jeff Thomas are late round fringe roster types with variable upside for the pro game. Honorable mention All-Conference types. Behind them Harley, Wiggins, and Pope are all inconsistent players. Occasional splash plays, but will be expected to be a lot more than they've shown capable next year. Maybe we can find a breakout player among them.

The fact Payton hasn't really made the field doesn't leave me feeling overly confident. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised, but I don't think much of our WRs individually, so him not playing knocks his projection down a rung or two for me. Hopefully this is a calculated red shirt and we see a 19 year old breakout for Payton.

I'd be intrigued to see what Tate Martell could become if he actually put in the work to be a real, true slot wide out. I'm not sure we can even count Njoku as a WR now. But we're still talking about very limited upside players. Collegiate role players at best.

Recruiting class looks ok. I like Restrepo a lot, but he might be a safety here. Redding and Fleming look nice, but I also can't help but think they are a bit of the same ol.

So, yeah man, I'd be pretty worried. I think its a weak position group and lacks top end players.

I've said this in other threads...but none of our WRs would be anything above WR4 on Bama or Clemson or LSU or Oklahoma. Like, real top teams. Our guys wouldn't in their Top 4 receivers. Probably as a result of roster spot, wouldn't be in the Top 5 receiving.

Payton is the real deal write it down

Wiggins, Pope, Payton & Harley will be good to go next year.

I'd love to see Redding & Fleming get a shot to ball next year too, but I don't think this staff is all too keen on playing young WR's if they don't have to. Restrepo might play because he strikes me as the exact kind of WR Stubbs wants, a kid that will run quick routes & follows instructions to the T.

I think we'll probably hit the Portal for a WR too, but everybody sleeping on Pope is making a mistake.

Pope been here almost 2 years and has 7 receptions. No one is sleeping on him. Pope is asleep. Maybe he should of spent less time talking to UF coaches

dont blame his struggles on enos. thats not the case. However, hes improving and so is dee wiggins

i agree that payton or redding needs to make an impact.
im not actually concerned with stubbs as a talent developer, im concerned with him as a recruiter.

Pope needs more targets quick and short. He is only a true sophomore, so he has lots of room to grow.

He will break out next year. So will Wiggins.

Most of Enos’ plays read deep to short but that is problematic with our woes in pass protection.

His stubbornness has often kept the offense out of rhythm and hindered their development.

People don’t realize how good we could really be if the plays were fit to our strengths and weaknesses better.

Yes the offensive line is improving, but the strategy and play calling is leaving a ton of yards and points on the field.

I love the JT is leaving talk. I guess your view is that he’s ok being an undrafted free agent? Because his measurables and performance aren’t going to get him drafted with all the baggage he’s carrying.

Totally agree. Jeff Thomas would be crazy to leave early. He would go undrafted between his personal history, rep as a quitter and lack of production. He absolutely should come back & ball out, if he wants to get rid of the quitter label and get drafted. It would be a huge mistake for him to attempt to go pro at this point.

Very worried about this but maybe I’m missing something

Harley...will be Mr Dependable. A notch or 2 below Osborn but honestly gotta hand it to the dude he does seem to be able to get a few catches per game

Pope...I just don’t think he’s built for the college game. Flails around out there

Wiggins...Gave me a little hope today

Pretty certain we lose JTpoor and obviously KJ is gone.

Brevin Jordan helps out the passing game but is there any help on the way? Any big time recruits coming in?

We'll be fine. Another year this oline gets to develop and get stronger. Add more strength to them and the passing and run game will be that much better.

Payton I think is gunna be Ahmmon lite, Redding has a chance to be what we wanted from Brian Hightower, Fleming has speed to contribute right away.
