I hated everything about the Pitt game. Everything.

Pitt is bad enough that everybody's suckass play could have been overshadowed by even average play by Malik, but he was straight trash. The type of QB that many (not me) expected him to be this season.

I'm a little worried about this team's mental makeup going into this game, but I hope I'm the one hungover from this loss and not them.

If I'm searching for a narrative this week (and Lord knows the "day after Thanksgiving, on the road, at a chilly Pit, playing the equivalent of their bowl game" narrative proved accurate), it's this: Miami finally got its wake up call. We know we're not good enough to show up and show out without optimal effort and aggression. We're the overwhelming underdogs again, and that's when this team has played its best football all season. To add fuel to that narrative, Clemson just came off a drubbing of a decent South Carolina squad and are likely feeling like accomplished world-beaters just in time to get smacked in the face. And they've got weaknesses (e.g. a porous secondary) to exploit.

I'm sure it has been discussed in this thread but there should be an open competition next season for the starting QB spot. While Rosier brings mobility, moxy and clutchness he leaves far too many plays on the field. Many of these games wouldve been blowouts with a QB who could simply make the right read and throw. I wouldn't be shocked if Perry or Weldon starts next year.

There is no way Rosier should start next year, 70% of the ACC QB's are better than him. I refuse to believe MR don't have a plan

Benching Rosier for one series was useless. Sheriffs has little-to-no skill and likely will not be on the roster next year. Burning Perry’s redshirt would have been even dumber. DJ Dallas in the wildcat would have been better, although likely ineffective. The OL was awful. Worse than UNC.

Richt needed to adjust for Rosier’s off game, and failed.

Diaz came up with nothing to confuse a true freshman QB.

I get Richts frustrations but he gotta have a plan B on those off days. Period. He should be able to tap into Rosier to squeeze some production out of him against a 4 win team.

Diaz should be ashamed of himself too.

Diaz adjusted well in the second half against VA and we rolled after that. He didn't adjust in the second half nor Richt tried to adjust his game plan to help his struggling QB. Other than embarrassing him by pulling him out for no better alternative.

Half the reason why Narduzi was so confident was because he knew he would take Richt and Diaz to the woodshed if we came out with that vanilla BS.

They exposed that game plan.

Richt underestimated them and overestimated US.

If you're going to be overconfident don't do it against a blue collar physical team. Save that for a cupcake opponent, because high likelihood you'll get away with it anyway. Cupcakes don't hit you in the mouth, or run over you with their freshman quarterback.

It's basically been a problem with this program ever since it got good in the early '80s. We severely underestimated East Carolina in 1983 and were incredibly fortunate to escape that game. Hard to believe based on their recent style of football but East Carolina was rugged during that era, with Earnest Byner and a physical defense. I don't think a tape exists of that game but this link describes how lucky the Canes were to get out of there with a narrow win. I've mentioned many times that the East Carolina receiver leaped up and knocked the winning touchdown out of their own player's hands. I didn't realize until reading this link recently that the receiver who knocked the ball away ran the wrong route and wasn't even supposed to be in the area:

Similarly the 2002 team could have pranced through Georgia or USC or any of the other offensive minded teams that were prominent that season. It was only blue collar Ohio State who terrified me all season. I'll never forget desperately rooting for them to lose just once, and there were so many close calls...Cincinnati, Purdue, Illinois, Michigan.

The college kids apparently look at it the wrong way...more concerned against opponents who can score, even if that team in general is nothing but fluff.

Pete as a member of the press can you ask him in a polite way why he refuses to throw to the open spot in the middle of the field on deep balls? I find it hard to believe that our coaches are NOT coaching that up but the fact that he continues to choose to throw over shoulder when there’s a clear an easy throw to the middle makes me wonder....

I noticed that also, every over thrown deep ball was to he outside over the shoulder. Every one of those balls would've been caught if thrown to the middle!!!

He's 5'10 (maybe). I doubt he can see that spot in the field. He also has had how many passes batted at the line? We have won games because of him, but also in spite of him. Pitt we lost because of him. It's big boy football now. You need a great QB to win. We will see which guy shows up on Saturday.

I maybe didn't say it how i was trying to, but i was just talking about ball placement. What I was trying to say was if you are running a post route, if the and the ball is placed on the sideline shoulder, it make the receiver slow down(get out of stride) and he has to adjust to the ball off balanced. That ball is more often overthrown than not.

If the ball is thrown to the other shoulder (toward the middle of the field) the receiver can adjust in stride easier and it is a heck of a lot easier to catch. Opposite the outside shoulder ball, the tendency is an underthrown ball, but is 100x easier to circle the route off a little to get the ball.

Either way, Good Malik will be there all Saturday night.
