Wow! Koi Perich to portal

Just got a Crystal Ball to Texas Tech
fwiw he didnt get any prediction. this is the ****** on3 format that one visit suddenly turns their algo to 100% projection tho there is no "RPM" or crystal ball prediction.

he does this every portal cycle. This isnt even new which is why im shocked at yall reactions.

The same way he does in hs recruiting he does with the portal where they arent letting the field no the main priorities, etc.
I guessed I just assumed with no spring portal to fall back on there’d be some greater sense of urgency. Obviously I’m a nobody, so I don’t know what is going on behind the scenes.

I’m not doubting or skeptical of Mario’s portal approach. It’s gotten us this far. I just thought maybe we’d be a bit more aggressive. Just my .02

Idk who’s in charge of what but we have been knocking these evaluations out of the park lately, count me as not being worried. Texas Tech is doing a Larry Coker special in the portal and just offering every top ranked guy a blank check lol
Absolutely and props to them for being aggressive by buying a stud filled roster. Our talent evaluation has been lights out. The culture that Mario has built is really starting to shine this year despite a few hiccups (UL & SMU) in the middle of the season. This transfer portal reminds me of the first few days when NFL Free Agency opens up. The "hot" guys get paid top dollar right out the gate and most successful franchises stay patient by signing lesser names. They end up picking guys that will fit their needs/schemes instead of just throwing loads of cash to the elite of the elite. I think 2 things are happening with Mario & Co. #1 is they are focused on Ole Miss then winning a National Championship. #2 is they trust their evaluations and believe they will still be able to get the talent they need to make another run. I understand IU is killing the portal while being in the same position as Miami in regards to being in the final 4. However, IU does not have the High School recruits that Miami does so they need to go extra hard. I also understand our fans who want us to be more aggressive in the portal especially with the success we have had this year and the last 2 QB's being at the buzzer. I get that but personally I have no worries that the staff will get things done once again this year & continue the upward trajectory of this program.

They are full blown trying to buy a natty outright no matter the cost lol 😂

Its only a matter of time before someone figures out how to constrain the market and then TTU goes back to having the same budget as everywhere else but located in West Texas. Even if it takes 5 years, that's only 5 shots at a national title. It could be less than 5 years...

Knocking off 4 consecutive top 10 opponents is hard for even elite teams. It requires some luck which can always break against you. Injuries could derail a season.

I kind of respect it. Go for it now while its the wild west.

My biggest worry if I were them is do they have the coaching to win. One is the X’s & O’s. But two can they do this constant roster turnover and win like they are paying for.

Problem is they lose most of the players every year. Mario built a team and has bullets in the mag already. Now he just needs to supplement with the portal and he presumably has quality depth via Hs recruiting. TT ain’t paying top dollar for back ups. They been crooting though so they could build their way to stability but when you are paying for mercenaries and top dollar guys who aren’t about the process you end up with a team that may fold on you when **** gets tough. Think Jimbos A&M teams. Character evaluation still matters that’s the next hurdle for TT. Playing a soft schedule with mercenaries can set you up for playoff failure will these dudes prepare like champions and respond when they get punched in the mouth.
People are making a lot of assumptions off a sample size of 1 season
