Would You Want Ed Reed as DB Coach?

STOP.

We don't want Ed Reed, Warren Sapp, Andre Johnson, Ray Lewis, Santana Moss, Edgerrin James, Clinton Portis, Jon Vilma, or any other UM legend to coach here.

They were great players with us and that's it.

We need actual coaches here.

Stop w/ these ridiculous posts. Jesus

Aside from warren sapp, all of those players would be perfect candidates as a position coach at the spot they played...

You are a shining example of why the Bell Curve concept is probably actually true.

How many successful position coaches are in CFB that played the sport? Do u have a clue about anything?

How many of them get their first job at the U of Miami? Let these guys coach FIU first, then we'll talk. Coaching is a separate skillset that isn't inherent to all former players.

Once again, Bell Curve theory proven true.

We should hire other former players as position coaches, like Hurlie Brown and Kevin Beard. We should also fire Mark Richt as head coach and instead hire Vinny Testaverde or Jim Kelly.

Not every former player is qualified. True.

But who better to "coach" a position than someone who played that position at a HOF level?

By all accounts Ed Reed in particular was very very smart and was very smart X&Os wise.

A DC no way. But a position coach? I honestly dont see why not in this particular case.

How about someone who is good coaching?

You people are "honestly" retards. Figures that the guy calling Jim Harbaugh "mediocre" would support Ed Reed to be a position coach.

Al golden and Harbaugh are irrelevant here and to the discussion. Adress the current topic about the current staff

I'm not saying that Ed Reed should be DB coach but Mike Vrabel did pretty well with Ohio State right after retiring. I do think that's a one off since most former players need to take a More traditional route in order to earn a position like that but it's naive to think that no former player will ever be a good coach.

Rumph, Beard, and Dorsey are on the right path. I would love to see more of our former players from the Butch era start to get into it.

Adress why U are so sure ED REED is or would be a failure as a DB coach.

No one is sure that he would be a failure, but we're also not sure that he wouldn't be a failure. Coaches have to prove themselves as coaches before going to a program like UM. After seeing the names we're bringing in, do you really want to experiment with one of the jobs?

lol, I dont agree with some of what you say, but nail meet hammer. Do other programs have this same imbecilic narrative - will LSU fans, for instance, clamor to name OdB and Jarvis Landry WR coaches when they retire.....

I get that he is green as a coach and i also agree its a risk. U make perfect sense.

My stance on Ed is because he is cerebral so with him, my Guess is he would be good. I concede its a 50 50 chance though
