Something I keep wondering in the back of my mind is say Richt retires after next season and Manny wanted the job? Would the fan base be happy with him?

I can’t decide what I think. On one hand he seems like he’s going to make a good HC one day and he is Miami through and through.

On the other hand we’ve tried this hire a DC first time HC from a failed staff thing before.

Just curious the boards thought.

Is he going to be CEO and hire stud OC and another stud DC? If not no thanks, don’t want another person trying to put to much on there plate especially a first time head coach, that hire cries Randy Shannon

I wouldn't be pumped about it. He'd be better than Richt but literally anyone would. Not sure he'd bring in great assistants and he's not a good recruiter to be honest. He does love the school and the city and would be open to change i think, which is obviously good. Overall, too many questions with him.

No.
I want a HC who knows what they are doing and knows good assistants to hire. Not a Head Coach in training type.

Manny's a good coach, no doubt. But Miami is not a place where someone should be learning on the job like he would.

Plus, I want my coach OCD as ****. Manny, as good as his unit is sometimes doesn't have that refined approach to it.

I'm pleased with what he's been able to maintain against the opponents offense as well as the same teams offense.

But I feel like Miami should go get a proven winner and not promote another coordinator.

If we're going to save this program, you need someone who knows what they're doing already. Basically who you thought you were getting with Ricky.

They would need to have been a HC before and demonstrated they were successful relative to the resources they had. In hindsight, it is clear UGA was correct to move on from this guy, there were too many resources being thrown his way for too few conference titles let alone NCs.

I do think Manny will be a good HC one day. On a positive note, he would likely hire an aggressive spread OC, after all those of the offenses he had two entirely adjust his defenses to address. My concern though would be too big of a staff relying on other up-and-coming names without any experience or sheepskin behind them. Banda will probably be a highly regarded DB/S coach one day, but I don't think that's the hire you make at UM. It's made recruiting alone very challenging.

If he would hire a compotent OC and fire the nessecary staff members then I would give him a chance on a short leash. Also wouldn't pay him more than 3Mill if that.

Yes. He’d hire a savage OC and we’d have a top ten defense to go with that.

He might even go hire a savage DC as well

Gets a lot out of his players on defense. Could recruit a little better but hard to argue that looking at our defense right now.

No, manny has his shortcomings on the field and he certainly isn’t that good as a recruiter
they act like this dude is a complete savage, he does half the job. It shouldnt be hard to coach D at the U, we need someone to be a phenom in sfla and coaches aggressively

No. He's done nothing to suggest he is capable, not on the field or in recruiting. On top of that, nobody should want anyone from this ignominious failure of a regime.

Dabo Swiney was a position coach under Tommy Bowden, who was fired.

Shannon was awful, but promoting an assistant when the head coach gets fired doesn’t always turn out badly.

With that being said, no to Diaz. I suspect Shannon is the norm of these types of hiring, not Swiney.
