Would You Take Butch....

My one concern about Butch would be his abilty to hire a staff. He's been out of the game for a while and the result of that is your contacts possibly drying up or not necessarily networked with young gunner coordinators.
 
Of course, but why would he come as DC? It's not like he'd be "head coach in waiting" under those circumstances...

Dude....besides him possibility being better at coaching evaluations than players, he has been scouring the country watching multiple top programs, systems and coaches. He has already said he has a young and aggressive staff in mind to bring with him.
 
I'd be happy to have Butch as DC, but not at the cost of Schiano or Chud as head coach.

Hue Jackson with Butch would be an out of the park homerun imo (not likely, I know).
 
Davis has plenty of money. NC paid his buyout in full, not to mentioned he made $15 mil at Cleveland.

If he comes it will be on his own terms. Therefore, it is very unlikely he comes as a DC.

Yes. YES. YES! Not sure he would take it -- unless it was with Chud or one of his other boys. Chud would be looking for road back to HC in NFL, so Butch might view it has shot at HC when Chud leaves. It gets him back in THE U and out of the "no hire" zone.
 
Yes. Whoever would take Butch as the DC would probably be a good HC - at least the recruiting, player development and defense would be in good hands (probably special teams, too)....

We could do much, much worse than having Butch as the DC...

Butch doesn't NEED Miami - he just wants it.

Miami NEEDS Butch - let's see if they're clever enough.

this is my concern with him also, he was never a good Xs and Os guy, his coordinators are crucial to his success if we hire him

he kept his buddy for years as the DC (much like golden) and during that time we were trash on defense, didn't have the best ones at UNC either
