And you know this how, exactly? A 1 loss Miami ACC conference champ gives the selection committee a perfect excuse to drop two SEC teams or two Big 10 teams into the playffs. What on earth makes you think the selection committee feels bound to putting Miami in if they can figure out some superficially plausible excuse for ******** us over?

We weren't in the playoffs until we beat ND, that was the last regular season game anyone expected us to lose. The next two are on us, no excuses.

I disagree kryp. had we lost to FSU or Tech or NC or anyone else, our wins vs VT and ND, as impressive as they were, those losses would still be held against us. **** look at how nobody believed in us and we were undefeated.

this is why people looking for scenarios in which we lose a game and then still get in with a win vs Clemson is silly and misguided. we either win out or we aint in the show. that simple

I was more thinking that making the playoff wasn't a realistic idea a few weeks ago; it wasn't until we beat ND that we really had a chance.

Totally agree that we had to win all those games to get to where we are. In a few years we'll get the benefit of the doubt, but for now the committee will take any loss as an excuse to put a 2 loss team with "better" wins and/or losses ahead of us. People are still expecting us to crash and burn. My money's on OSU, but we'll have to see how it plays out.

Kinda OT, but a guy saw my Miami sweatshirt today and asked how I thought they'd do this year. Told him we were going all the way. I hope the team realizes how badly I don't want that random guy who works at the library to think I was misguided, and plays accordingly.

I guess u don't know our history w committee members or computers. We HAVE to win out to make the CFP. No way we lose to UVA or Pitt and still make it in. They barely want us in the CFP now! If we beat Clemson but lose to either of the aforementioned schools, bet $ no ACC team will get in. They'll rather put in OU or ****, even a two loss OSU team if they win the BiG10. We gotta handle our own biz, bro.

Every single game is huge. And now like it or not, agree or not, we will need style points for the last 2 games. Probably would not take much if we had another UNC effort and Wisconsin keeps winning and were fighting to stay in the top 4.

We can't take anyone lightly, I'm sure the staff can't stress this enough to the players, and are reminding them Clemson's only loss last year was to Pitt. No game is a gimmie

The committee ranked Clemson ahead of us, even though they had one loss (to a team we beat). The committee noted that we haven't beaten any teams of relevance on the road (FSU was our hardest road game and they're abysmal this year). They're nit picking the crap out of Miami. If you think we can afford a loss to UVA or Pitt and still get into the playoffs, feel free to PM me and I'll tell you how the real world works. Being a conference winner doesn't guarantee you a spot to the playoffs - see Penn St. who won the conference and BEAT Ohio St., where the latter got in over them.

The cards would have to fall a certain way to still get in after any loss but Clemson. If we slipped and didn't get crushed then I don't think that ND could be rated over us in good conscious after the way we stomped them out. Auburn and Alabama will play each other, Wisconsin will not play a team higher rated than #24 Michigan the rest of the year and could be undefeated. Georgia still has to play either Alabama or Auburn. Oklahoma would have to flat out lose. We'd have to beat Clemson and probably impressively to get in over a no loss Wisconsin.

Too many things would have to fall right to still go the playoffs after a loss. Lets just beat everybody in front of us and win it all.

I agree that every game is huge but disagree on the style points. An undefeated Miami Hurricanes team who wins the ACC by beating defending national champion Clemson is not getting left out. Style points in our last 2 regular season games would be nice but not necessary if we remain unbeaten and knock off the defending champs in the ACC title game.
