If they were legitimate options.

See the program folded?

Continue to be mediocre in ACC? Especially if the school retain golden through the remainder of his contract.

Drop down to a non power 5 conference and possibly dominate? Like the sun belt.

Personally, I rather see the program folded before the latter two. If you are not going to beat the best and demand greatness. Than fold the program.

Side note: on twitter talking Reynolds. He says he baffled that fans believe that coaching is the only with program, and infers that fans are to blame. (IE: Michigan fans give the school the pocketbook to hire a top tier coach)

So I say we are suppose to buy season tickets, invest our hard earn money in a program that giving no return. That's like continue to go to a bad restaurant. Pooling money in this restaurant thinking "well one day they hire a great chef and good service, let me continue to give them money"

What giving them the incentive to change? In their mind business is good. On the other, you stop eating there as well the community. Now the restaurant had to make a decision: invest in their investment with hope of seeing the return, or shut down.

I rather have the football program be dropped if the Admin and BOT don't care about winning.

I'll take B, Alex.
As long as were still in the ACC, or in a Power 5 conf., there's always a chance that we will become relevant again if we get a good coach. The ascension to greatness is always the best part of being a fan. We've been spoiled to have witnessed it twice! Think about the fans of other teams that ain't ever seen that. I'm waiting on a third time. With our recruiting area, the RIGHT COACH (BBB) can have us back there in 2-3 seasons. Think about how good you felt when Dorsey made that connection to Shockey in the endzone to beat F$U!!! That was a signal to the rest of college football that, "we were back!"

Drop the program before lowering the program's standards to the degree you are describing in your hypo.

I am an alum. I would prefer to shut the frigging university down, sell the land and assets and split the money among its alumni than continue this crap. I cannot tolerate this slim administration enjoying the fruits of our love and labor while deliberately destroying the greatness of the football program that made it possible. If they don't want winning football then give me every frigging penny I ever donated or spent supporting the program back. They can have their John Hopkins or Harvard or the South, but give me my money back. They are every bit the con-artist nevin was. That is why they fell for him.

FIgures that fat **** Reynolds would blame the fans for the current condition of the program.

If you were to ask Reynolds "what came first, the chicken or the egg?" He'd respond: "Which one is fried?"

I'll just throw this out there.

UM could get maybe Butch Davis, give him two million to hire his two coordinators, a healthy coaching pay level, and then pull out of the ACC and go independent.

With UM a football powerhouse again, and independent - they could dominate college football - keep the revenue they generate - and be in great demand across the nation.

Get back to playing Notre Dame, Alabama, Penn State, UCLA, Ohio State's of the college football world. We used to play whoever, whenever, and our program exploded. The University exploded with relative growth.

Demand top dollar in games, and if we're once again an NFL team on the football field, we make money, we get nationwide contacts for recruiting, and just roll.

I know it's safe being in a conference, but safe doesn't allow you to put your boot on the neck of your opponents, and beat your chest while he smothers face down in the dust.

However, the Admin, BOT and the President will not shut it down because they really like those ACC checks. Winning has become irrelevant in the decision making.

I'll go one step farther. Drop the program if they don't fire Folden this year. I'd rather have those old memories than stew in a festering growing hatred of the program I used to love and watch it become the national laughingstock it's rapidly becoming.

Amen to that brother.

So a year ago we were worried the NCAA was going to shut us down and now, we the fans, want to shut down the program .... amazing

Agreed. If the administration is as detached from the football program as it now appears, it's time to shut things down. They will probably try to keep things going by either retaining Golden or hiring James Coley or Mario Cristobal to get more money out of the ACC, but even the biggest Carolina goober is going to get tired of paying out good money to this cabal of crooks and losers much longer. The ACC's getting impatient. Shut it down.

Butch would be the obvious guy to go to in an effort to save the program, but these losers will never do that. They're going to give us Coley or Cristobal and we should realize this.
