Would last years team have been able to beat ND?

last year = not a chance would they have beaten Notre Dame in game 1.

we would have given up a rushing touchdown on EVERY single ND possession. and Cam would have thrown at least one pick into coverage.
Our defense was good vs UF in game 1 last year.

We would've won with something like a 35-31 score imo.

We would have given up 40 points, at least. Cam may or may not have been patient enough to take what ND was giving and give us a chance to win. Who knows. I feel like he was pretty good about that earlier on in the season and took more risks (some turned out good, some disasters) later in the season.

Highly unlikely given the poor defense. I guess the bigger question is how would last years offense have done vs ND this year. I just wonder if to would have been a grind like the Ga Tech game was.

Cam could’ve kept it competitive — he’s good enough to make plays even against a disciplined ND defense. But the way Miami won this game — efficient, methodical, balanced, surgical — that’s exactly Beck’s wheelhouse.

Ward’s style is built to survive chaos. Beck’s style is built to beat great defenses that don’t give you chaos to work with. Against Notre Dame, Beck was the guy Miami needed.
Duh. Zero chance. The opposite question is how far would the Canes have gone last year with this year’s defense?

No chance in ****..not with Cam the program destroyer Ward recklessly trying to score TD after TD.
Only with the ultra finally efficient offense we have now under Beck are the Domers beatable..

Im not so sure even Ward makes that throw to CJ....

Toure was step for step with Love in tight coverage on wheel route down the sideline ..I can only vomit at the thought of Francisco Maigoua in that position 🤮

Pretty close to a toss-up, but I lean towards we'd still have won. Last year's offense would have put at least 10-14 pts on the board before we scored on Sunday. We weren't terrible defending the run last year, and I don't think Carr in his first game would have done what McCord did against our D through the air.

Cool hypothetical
Last year D would make Carr look like the second coming of Tim Tebow

I think we win going away especially early in the season. Especially if Bain is available the entire game . It would be a great matchup . Young qb against a solid run defense but minus secondary. Imo wed lit their asses up in the passing game . We wouldn’t have been this conservative.

He did the same thing against UF in the opener last year, check the tape. I hope Toure balls but don't do revisionist history.

With the 2025 defense yes, not with the 2024 defense. Then again, The 2024 offense was more dynamic (at least comparing 1st games).
