Would Golden ever fire Mark D'Onofrio?

Before I go any further, let me preface this by saying that I don't think we're going to be quite as historically bad on defense in 2014.

That being said, assuming we don't win the Coastal and the defense isn't quite what it should be in year 4, I don't foresee even the possibility of Golden parting ways with D'Onofrio.

I firmly believe that Golden will resign as HC before he decides to let go of D'Onofrio, Franklin, Williams (which will be what he's asked to do at season's end if we lose more than 4 games).

No. His love for his friend is too strong and he would never even think about it. Not even averaging 500 yards given up per game.

No, but D'Nof might "pursue other opportunities" at some point...

No. He has hinted that he would never do it. Its bigger than football to Golden. All the more reason why he isn't a good fit for this place; he isn't willing to do the necessary. Mediocre coaching at its finest.

Doesn't matter. This is Golden's defense, and if his binder and four years here have taught us anything, he's not exactly flexible.

He's going down with this philosophy, one way or another.

The weak spot right now is on the offensive side. The next two games we will see if the defense is better, maybe even after the Duke game. Until then things are trending up though.

As for the Coastal title, that ain't gonna happen this year. The AD should start calling agents or headhunters or whoever, right now.

I agree. However, I would think he'll be given the option to stay and bring in someone completely foreign to run the defense.

That's a fat No. At least not in the foreseeable future. Stats aside the d does look like it's taken a jump in right direction this year (unless we are falling for same crap as last year), more pressure, better run d, etc.

If we had, or end up, continuing the ways of last year -400+ yards, losing by multiple scores- I think he would talk him into leaving.

If we don't win the coastal there will be staff changes, but unless the above happens it won't be his BFF.

I have an idea. Let's start 85,000 more threads on the same **** thing. That'll certainly get the attention of the masses.

I think D'Nofrio would leave on his own if the heat comes pretty heavy. He is in good standing as of today. We will see where we are once we play Nebraska and start conference play.

I don't think Golden would use the word fired. He would have Mark actively start looking for another gig and play it off as a better family opportunity for him when he leaves.

question is premature and moot at this juncture. suspend it until late December, early january. are you into accumulating worthless posts?

I know a guy who sends me like 50 texts every time Miami loses. ****, even when we win. Essentially just copy/pastes tweets from SMD and Porter and they all say the same thing.

I am starting to think that he posts here as Rok.
