Would Al Golden have survived if Nebraska wins?

Al Golden and Blake James have one thing in common...

They have never fired a coach.

No, but the environment would have become exceedingly toxic. Losing to Nebraska after possessing such a large lead would have decimated team morale.

If they beat FSU last year, it would have helped springboard Golden's tenure and he knows that. I think that one of the reasons why he did not run the ball earlier in the 4th quarter was because of the FSU loss last year. He wants the team to know that he trusts them. He is changing and trying to improve. Also, he now wants this job (badly).

I think that he is a mediocre coach, but he is assiduously trying to keep his job. I think that when Penn State passed on him, it alerted him to the fact that his next stop is a permanent position at the "Temples" of the world.

He will be jobless by December so it doesnt matter

I was wondering if we had lost what would have happened at the stadium; would have been very ugly scene

He would have survived... until his second loss in a row to Cincinnati. Team never would have recovered had they blown the Nebraska game and Cinci/Tubbs would have put the final nail in the coffin. Sigh.

He would not have been fired that day, but his fate would have been sealed. Like that UF game when Muschamp got his *** beat and Jeremy Foley was in the end zone after the game stone-faced. The whole world knew in that moment that Foley's mind was made up.

Hypothetically speaking; no. He wouldn't have been fired.

But the heat in the Golden oven would be turned up to 'broil'. I would think the BOT would be taking a very close look at the rest of the season. Keep in mind; if he kneeled on the ball and lost in OT, people would be losing their damned minds.

"We could've won, instead we sat on the ball and gave Nebraska a chance? That stupid f*** couldn't get off the sideline? Where was the clock management?"

and on... and on...

We still heard it even after we won. But had we lost Nebraska, we would probably lose to FSU, VT, and Clemson, and that would be that.

I probably would've lost a TV myself.
