Would Al Golden have survived if Nebraska wins?

No, but the environment would have become exceedingly toxic. Losing to Nebraska after possessing such a large lead would have decimated team morale.

If they beat FSU last year, it would have helped springboard Golden's tenure and he knows that. I think that one of the reasons why he did not run the ball earlier in the 4th quarter was because of the FSU loss last year. He wants the team to know that he trusts them. He is changing and trying to improve. Also, he now wants this job (badly).

I think that he is a mediocre coach, but he is assiduously trying to keep his job. I think that when Penn State passed on him, it alerted him to the fact that his next stop is a permanent position at the "Temples" of the world.

Unfortunately, I doubt that. BOT does not care how much we suffer, so long as the football program NEVER comes back to what it was. That the hate.

Fantastic thread OP!! Real mind bender.

Doubtful, but I would venture to say that the coaching staff would have lost the team. Much like last year after the FSU game. Perhaps the beginning of the end, but I don't think he would've been fired.

Not a chance. They are not going to fire a coach 3 games into the season, especially with a 2 - 1 record (regardless of whether he deserved it or not). If it happens it will be after the annual late season collapse when we lose to teams like UVA and Pitt.

Yes, though I don't think they would have done it till later in the season.
However, I do believe to let a sure win get away yet to stay composed and end up winning, will give this team tremendous confidence moving forward. This could have the opposite effect of the FSU game last year.

The question is moot.

This is not moot.

Firing Day is 68 away.

Fools must die
So it shall be
Take your place in history
Show your face
Don't be shy
The world rejoices
When fools die

How do you get out-coached in a win?? I tell you how; Exhibit A: Al Golden

Kinda like getting "...Fired on yo day off!!"

Lol. UM doesn't even have the capacity to fire someone "on the spot". Frenk barely knows what football is, the AD doesn't seem like he would fire anyone without at least 5 meetings, and the BORG are too busy bumping into one another and counting money to be able to decisively make that kind of move. No way in **** Al gets fired during the season. He could tank every game from here on out and they wouldn't can him until days after the Pitt game.

OP,
Who exactly do you think would have made that decision?

I would assume Flake James but at this point who the **** knows.

In a sick twisted sort of way I would have been very curious to see the level of toxicity of the fanbase if we would have lost that game. I think it would have consumed the program and led to his dismissal and the loss of whatever weak *** grip he has left on those kids.
