Worst tackling game of the Cristobal era...

Richard is mid as ****. I do not understand how Mario didn’t address the secondary issues in our last recruiting class nor in the portal. I fear it could come back to haunt us in the playoffs.

The recruiting on that side has been vastly overrated. We are small up front and the back seven is full of mediocre athletes. Give me one name on our defense who would’ve played in that GA/Bama game. You can’t.

Baron would get snaps but that’s it.

Agreed Steele sucked and recruiting and so did Addea. Mario has to dig his way out on that side of the ball. Canes connection needs to buy a top CB, Safety and DT in the off-season

We really lack size at defensive tackle. We don’t have run stuffers who take up space and don’t get pushed to one side. We have some solid players but no one elite. Maybe Scott or other youngsters, but that’s a lot to ask of true freshmen.

Even if you’re 300 or 320 pounds at 18 years old, you probably don’t have the strength and the quickness of someone who’s been in a college conditioning program for two or three or four years. And if you do you’re rare animal.

Cici is that kind of player on the offensive of line at right tackle for us, and he’s rare.

this ... i was thinking that these alignments and all this open grass on the slot looks like a manny diaz outfit
Too many things were reminiscent of Diaz defense, hated how if we scored or got momentum back on offense the defense just turned around and let them drive down the field immediately. Look like some Diaz bs

we missed here in particular.

Now I will say, Sanguinetti had a poor 3rd and 4th year under the old staff after showing promise in Y1 and Y2. Credit to Cignetti for getting the most out of him, he is a good HC.

I love this place and all the trim it’s has

A week ago all u mouth breathers thought we walked on water. Guidry and Dawson were going to split the Broyles Award and we were back. Now look at this place

Our players suck and Guidry is mid. Bunch of trim in here who say they’re alpha

The problem is most of y mouth breather don’t know **** and this team had lots of flaws but so does everyone. Some teams have less than us but every single team is flawed. Get used to it. We played poorly and gifted the other team points. Bad games happen, but we did get the W

We lose this game in the past, but hey for some reason the gods chose to praise us and we got the W. The over reaction and amount of estrogen is terrible for 1 game. Now they play like this the rest of the season commence to *****ing, but I think (and I am a Mario hater) they have deserved some leeway this year.

We need to get healthy, we need to stop reading all the press about how amazing we are, we need to get the chip back. This is what happens when u expect to blow out a hated rival.

PPG against P4 opponents since Guidry’s arrival:
27.5 ppg

PPG against P4 under Steele (2022): 28.4 ppg

Disclaimer: No, this is not a Steele endorsement nor is it a call for Guidry’s head.

Discuss.
Think Guidry gets too much credit around here. We give up way too many big plays and guys always seem to be open against his defense, offense can compete with anyone, but we are a long way away from competing with the big boys with this defense, he's just not getting it done in my opinion.

It’s on the coaching. This defense looked completely unprepared for what Va Tech was running. Players were on their heals and reacting, instead of attacking. Two weeks in a row now, where at least in the first half, Guidry has gotten outcoached.
Tackling, you can't execute what you don't practice. Backed in the day, that's all you did in the 2 weeks of preseason, you have to condition your body to tackle, just like you condition your endurance. I think that is why there are so many injuries in today's game. Also, same thing on Sundays, seems every big play, comes from a missed tackle. Hard to gauge Guidry, if we don't miss all those tackles, it's another story. Just the missed sacks by Alston at least 2, plus Alston was there on the reverse, and Kiko missed tackle in the hole, you're talking a different game. Running back, got 101 yards of his 140, after contact. Personally, I think we were out physical, and folks wanted nothing to do with that bowling ball of a running back.

Recruiting hasnt been overrated on that side of ball. Its just the big talent is young thru the recruiting classes.

Also 2 of biggest stars are out in Bain and Brown.

Brown early in Florida game lined up outside, and they ran an end around to his side, he got off a block and blew play up with extreme violence. Just the way youve seen those UGA and Alabama DBs for years. His length and striking ability stand out. Why Saban wanted him.

But Barron, Barrow, Kiko, OJ, Alston, Mesidor can all play in UGA/Alabama game.

Our defense was light on focus to start, VT has 2 great weapons hard to tackle.

I

there was signs against USF. A lot of the same issues but USF doesn’t have the talent or depth of a VT. The film is out now. Hopefully somebody steps up at some spots and Bain is Moses when he returns. Damari too.

Yeah USF did well with plays outside and VT parroted that with more talent. Have to stop the bleeding on the outside stuff in space. Surprising since you normally wouldn’t want to go east west often on teams with speed but if we can’t tackle in space when we get there, speed is moot.
