Woodson in orange and green?

I had no idea that Charles Woodson was a Miami fan. I assumed that he would’ve gone to Columbus had he not gone to Michigan, but he says he would’ve gone to Miami. That really surprised me. He’s from Fremont, Ohio, which is close to Toledo, so it’s not a OSU lock. He was an insane running back in high school, said he loved Rohan Marley, that’s why he wore no. 2. He obviously made the right choice in going to Ann Arbor, but man as a fan it would’ve been nice to have had him.

His son just committed to Michigan I believe.

Everyone was seemingly a UM fan back in the day. We just didn’t have the coaches or infrastructure to take advantage of it after Butch left.
20 years of poor coaching and a lazy administration ruined us.

Yup we would of gotten everyone including Odell Beckham you name it. DK Metcalf and the list goes on and on

I could be wrong, but I think Woodson was a HS Senior during one of Erickson's last two seasons and I vaguely remember reading about him in one of the Canesport news-letters of that time.
But you're right that we had several coaching staffs that weren't able to exploit our popularity.

Story for a lot of famous guys. Marshall Faulk wanted to come here but we wanted him at DB. Duante Culpeper wanted in but we wanted him at LB. Desmond Howard has said Miami was his second choice.

I think you may have had Culpepper confused Steve McNair who UM apparently wanted him as a Safety (and he was a really good DB in HS).
Other notable names that UM passed over with Jeff Owens (UGA), Brian Rolle (immokalee,OSU), Santonio Holmes (Belle Glades, OSU) and some DB from Space Coast who ended up at Purdue.

Nope, Culpepper said as much himself. But there was also a grades issue.

His senior year was 1994-95…Erickson’s last season at Miami.
 
Devonta Freeman wanted to be a Cane. Some say him going to FSU was a deciding factor in Cook going there, too, though I'm not so sure.
