Wondering if OSU recruits rethinking things right now?

If they don't make the CFP this year, its the beginning of the end for Day. Next year they dont have JJ, and Sayin will not be a top QB without him. I expect Indiana to get better and OSU to get worse. The expectations at OSU are very very high, and if they don't win the BIG these next 2 years CYA.

Oh ST is a perennial contender that won a National championship a few years ago, produces tons of very good NFL players & pays top dollar on the NIL market.

A loss here & there isn't gonna affect their recruiting.

No player signs with Dan Lanning if his No. 1 priority is developing into the absolute best football player he can be.

Those types of kids are probably gonna be a less-than-ideal fit under Mario

Who replaces him?
 
As long as they are paying top dollar, winning 10+ games per year, and have multiple 1st round draft picks recruits are still going to line up for them.

Also, we have won out on several recruits they wanted

Doesn't matter. The standards are too high up there to accept mediocrity. They will go from coach to coach to coach imo. The thing is, they simply will not be able to acquire the level of talent needed to win national championships anymore, and they won't realize this until they are irrelevant as a program.

Miami is not allowing south florida superstars to leave. Texas schools (plural) are not allowing their states talent to leave. USC is starting to make it hard to pluck top California talent. The talent in the south will be divided between 10+ teams.

They simply will not be able to field rosters like they used to. They will have to settle for the talent in the Northeast and Midwest, which leaves you with big strong teams like Notre Dame. Those types of teams get you in contention, but are always exposed against real athletes.

They don't know it yet, but these next couple years are their only chances to make a run for a long long time.
