With this search committee hired

I think Butch and Mario's chances have significantly dimmed. I may very well be wrong but I just don't see them getting it any more.

My guess right now, Charlie Strong would be the most likely hire

Just my opinion though

anyone have any info on who this committee has hired in the past? are they ones that have been hired by other universities in recent years?
 
They got Strong to Texas (Don't let hindsight blur your judgement on this), they helped with Harbaugh to Michigan, and McElwain to Florida.

They helped with both commissioners for the MLB and NFL. Van Gundy to the Pistons. That's all I remember.
 
Hmmmm...strong to Texas, Harbaugh to Michigan, swamp donkey to Florida? Sounds like they like well established coaches at power 5 schools.

You aren't understanding what they do. They allow you to have a real search by creating a communication channel you would not have, which ultimately takes a search that would last 8 weeks and gets it done in 2-3. They don't place anyone.

McElwain was at Colorado State. Strong was at Louisville when they were in the Big East.
 
I got placed into a nice temp-to-perm job at an insurance company by Korn Ferry.

I was in charge of stuffing envelopes. They gave me rubber thimbles and everything.

I realize they don't hire anyone, but I think them getting hired means the school is going in a different direction. Can the school still hire Mario or Butch, sure they can but I think the chances are less likely with this search committee.

If Mike Gundy wants to win more rings than he has fingers to wear them on. And he would come close at Miami.

So, you're saying that they might double down on Charlie? He's been a demonstrated failure at Texas, and they're going to recommend him AGAIN? I don't think so.

IMHO, the search committee, like Flake, is a smokescreen. They'll narrow the candidates down to a manageable number. They will include the man that the BOT has already decided to hire (butch - shhh).

Exactly... the search company folks are nothing but human cell phones to avoid tampering charges ... They don't have any favorites or make recommendations. U has probably given them a search criteria to screen coaches

"Hello, would you like to be considered for the HC job at the U?" Yes, Maybe? If so, when can we set you up for an interview?"



They also allow interested coaches to contact them without speaking to the U directly to gauge mutual interest


Compile a list and give it to the Search committee.

They are there because The University wants to make sure it makes the best hire and doesn't just go with the usual suspects. You can't do that without some outside help. It does not limit the chances of the insiders who all have very strong creds.
