we have got to be willing to spend some money on our next head coach which should be the primary focus....eventually Golden will be gone, be it after another bowl lost or after the 2015 season...not saying it should be Saban type of money, but we have to stop being cheap...UM has the money, they now need a willingness to pay!!

we hired 3 bad coaches in a row...we CANNOT make it number 4

This is at the heart of the problem with the board of trustees. They spend too much time looking at conference averages and such when deciding how much to offer coaches. Aside from the head coaching spot being under funded, both of the coordinator positions are grossly under-funded. We will never be able to keep a consistent staff of qualified coaches at the current pay levels.

Of course, when the board of trustees allocates monies for a cap-ex project, they get the perks and PR value that comes with it. When they agree to increase salary, they get nothing in return for spending the university's money; Just like politicians.

We won't have to.......

Yeah, it's not good that Muffcramps is making almost as much as a coordinator at Auburn as Al is as our HC.

Considering this consensus that hiring Butch can come on the cheap or at least < or = $3M, why not load up on the coordinator side and bring the best mind-in-Coordinator on offense in NFL OC $ (Jedd Fisch/Chud/**** Koetter) or at more than a Million+, a la Muschamp.

Then give Coley a raise to $3/4 Million and keep him as QB Coach, bring & pay $1.5Mil to hard-*** Schiano as Coordinator on D, move Hurlie to DB coach, keep Ice wherever or at RB Coach, keep TE Coach Scott, trust Davis to deal/dispense of Kehoe/Carroll as he deems fit after tossing out the 4 Temple coaches.

The U has saved so much $$$ on coaches since like forever that they can pay today. Such investment in Butch and in DOLLARS would declare to the college world that the []_[] is fatally serious about coming back, and recruits would jump/stay on board. With that, wouldn't be U be contending for Championships in '15?

This +10000
Butch has never been a good game day coach, his specialty is talent acquisition. Butch get the talent, good well paid coordinators call the plays, and The U becomes unstoppable again.

Cane2 for Miami AD!

Shalala has raised over a billion dollars in the last 10 years. Money isn't the issue. Athletics vs academia is the real tug of war game going on.
It will always be this way at UM (Foote, Shalala, doesn't matter).

We were **** lucky to have coaches like JJ give the Pres and administration a middle finger yet win championships at the same time. It's unreal what JJ put up with.

That's correct. I forgot the number.

You want to pay a QB coach $4M after giving him a job demotion?

Why would Jedd come back to Miami to take the same title when he's already an NFL OC? Why would Dirk Koetter leave the NFL to come be an OC at the NCAA level?

Schiano was making $2.3M at Rutgers, he was making $5M a year in the NFL but he's going to come take a coordinator job at Miami for $1.5M?

You guys need to use your heads. You want big name coordinators? You better be prepared to pay them. Butch is an awful gameday coach, and even with arguably the best staff ever assembled around him he still couldn't finish the job in 2000.
