"I told my wife five years ago when we took one of the greatest challenges in college football there would be a day like this."

Lulz, he took over a team that had Big East players and won in the MAC. Greatest challenge my ***. Schnelly is LHAO.

Al golden had EVERYONE fooled. I'll never forget a buddy of mine who was the Director of Player Personnel for the 49ers telling me that we fired Larry Coker one year too late. When I asked why he said, "Because we could have hired Al Golden before Temple did."

Golden had the entire football industry convinced that he was the next big time up and coming coach. Its part of the whole Masters in Sports Psychology thing. Golden looks and acts the part like very few others. He does everything the right way.....except coach. He's kind of amazing in this regard when you think about it.

We fired Coker two years too late, but your friend was right. We could of hired Golden 4 years earlier. He would be gone already then.

It is easy to see now how he wasn't qualified for us:

1. Never won the conference,

2. Never won a bowl game, and

3. Never beat anyone good

At Temple he dealt with sanctions and was capable of turning nothing into something. He speaks "well" and is probably good on an interview.

In retrospect, it is easy to see what you want when you hire a HC at a school in an inferior conference.

1. Is the coach able to dominate the conference?

2. Is the coach able to win the conference?

3. Is the coach able to improve the program or does he hit a ceiling (see Hudspeth at ULL)?

4. How does he do against teams in better conferences (see Herman at Houston or Fuente at Memphis)? I don't expect these coaches, at inferior programs/conferences, to beat better teams (like Memphis v. UCLA or Ole Miss). But when given the opportunity, how do they perform? If they beat these teams (Houston beating UL), that is really impressive.

5. Age of the Coach. I am not an ageist at all but it is refreshing to see these first time coaches do so well and be so young. Obviously there will be some growth and improvement. To see Herman and Fuente do so well and be so young is pretty good IMO.

6. Pedigree. Where does the coach come from and who did he coach under?

7. Adaption. Is the coach able to adapt and maximize the performance/product? I don't want a coach who is incapable of change or adapting to new talent and players. Golden is this type of coach. He runs it his way and only his way. There is no ability to change at all.

When does this start?

Temple fans were oozing at how much better Addazio was than Golden. I remember one poster saying "A breath of fresh air". I feel like I've been stuck under the covers breathing nothing but Gluten farts for the last 5 years.

I'll never forget the Temple fan that posted in the Lounge telling us that Dorito's defense would drive fans insane. I really wish I could find that thread. The Temple fans that came over that week were as spot on as Whitlock's interview.

The general view of the Temple fans was, "We appreciate golden for getting the program organized but we're all ready for him to move on..."

If he only accomplished half of what he promised he would be in the pantheon. As it is, he will go down as the worst coach in school history.
