I've said it a few times....if Golden had fired D'No after 2012 and hired someone like Manny Diaz....

2013: 9-4 (no change...team was far too thin after the FSU game)
2014: 9-4
2015: 10-3
2016: 11-2
2017: 12-1
2018: 10-3
2019: 11-3

Golden was a good recruiter but had his first year recruiting bump ruined by the NCAA scandal....at a time where he absolutely needed a knock out class. Due to a poor and badly attrited 2010 class, coupled with a makeshift 2011 class, Miami needed a Top 3 class just to get close to maintaining their talent level from just two years earlier as the 2008 and 2009 classes filtered out. He couldn't and Miami went from nearly 40 four and five star players in 2010 to just over half of that amount in 2012.

His offenses weren't bad...his loyalty to D'No makes him look poor in retrospect. He certainly was not perfect (see Chickillo, see Stephen Morris playing hurt), but he was a better CEO than Coker or Shannon. With good coordinators (and if he chose to stay) I think Golden could still be here.

He was actually a Carol City Chief.
He signed a state LOI with UM, but chose Ohio State in February.
He was a bit raw, if not soft, at Carol City.
A couple of HS teammates who were headed to UM told me at the time that he was soft and wasn't going to amount to much in college....not a big loss for the Canes...lol

Iirc he was a te in hs. Grew into his body. Was a tough sob in nfl.

It's hard to evaluate Randy Shannon as he was given by far the least to work with of any Miami HC in recent memory. I'm presuming that all first time HCs struggle, and Randy's challenges were made worse by the austerity spending by the administration.

I agree with you about Shannon starting with the least but both share similar flaws. Shannon could recruit when he wanted to but was lazy recruiter. Golden try to recruit but he would missed on so many kids. Both never developed the talent they brought in and never built depth. Golden evaluation of recruits were terrible and at least Shannon try to fix the offense. Golden never thought about changing the defense. That was his biggest flaw as a HC. He couldn't put his ego to the side to change his system for the better.

Our offense under Golden was average and his S&C program was considerably bad also. Don't forget, both sides of the ball would constantly get pushed around and overpowered. Also, as the details came about his lawsuit, he was a born loser. The fact that he was trying desperately to get Nebraska (when they were winning 9 games a year under Pelini) was one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen.

The defense was the most glaring thing under Golden. But in no way was it his only blemish. It just overshadowed everything else he was bad at considerably.

I wouldnt recommend that last part, knowing where those 2 morons came from, you drink one to many and **** could start getting creepy with those penn disgrace boyz. I understand looking out for your boys but at some point that **** starts showing signs of being real ghey with it. If you looking out for your boys, your boys should be looking out for you too, if my boy hired me, and i couldnt do the job, not only could i not do the job, but i became the worst in the history of that organization in doing that job, i would telll my boy, a man, this **** not for me, imma find something else, im not gone ***** yo **** up too, that **** the penn disgrace morons did was on the ghey level, the "im not leaving without you" kind of ghey ****! And if its my boy, after 3 years, i gotta go to em and tell em the Truth, otherwise im not looking out for him either.

But the worst part is they both put their personal relationship above the good of the young men they had the privilege to coach and ***** up their careers and earning potential,in the meantime they didnt care cause they were already getting paid after parlaying the so called "scandal" into getting more money. Any headcoach that comes here and puts himself above these players in that way, i could never have respect for em, ***** that. I'm notbuilt for that type of hoe *** ****!

i disagree. He was good, but your hype theory is false. He was unique for his type, amd played on a team and for a coach where his skills were showcased.
