Wins like this

I suggest yo stop LIVING IN THE PAST concerning Miami Hurricane football. But then again, we all tend to live in the past concerning existential matters and all that. DuH
You need to cut the kid some slack. He’s stating his observations and experience. He’s just venting.

Aren’t even satisfying. I can’t believe The U has fallen so far we have to have a slugfest with UVA. Trying to find the positives in an 8 point home win. There isn’t an easy power 5 win for us anymore. We’re just another coastal team, just with more history and better alumni.

I can’t watch College GameDay, hearing about match ups that matter, featuring teams with playoff aspirations and competent coaches leading programs into meaningful rivalry games. Not to mention all the players we recruited and lost, playing key roles.

I Just needed to vent. I became a fan during the NC Game against Ohio State. Something about that Miami team, I was mesmerized. Started following the team religiously and it’s been downhill ever since. I wish I knew what the good Miami days felt like

The fact you "can't believe" Miami has fallen this far; that's as much a part of the problem as anything.

Why should the University of Miami be a player in this day and age? You have Georgia dumping $200M into their football department and an alumni base (Magill Society) with fans committed to pledging at least $25K to get in. Miami can't sniff that kind of financial support and can barely get fans to show up once a few losses are racked up.

Five head coaches in past 14 years; 100-73 record since 2005 Peach Bowl.15 years of irrelevance and backsliding, while other programs have taken steps forward. Miami's fall from grace should be painfully obvious and easy to explain, yet you can't believe it?

Better hope Manny can turn it around, as more coaching over 2-3 years from now would be completely disastrous for Miami.

Miami got outplayed yesterday. Anybody without Canes glasses on realizes that.

Allowing 1 point per trip inside the 25 is not a long term winning strategy. It’s basically good luck that is unlikely to happen again.

I didn't think we got outplayed. From the stands throughout the game I was very confident we would win.

Virginia is a smart attacking defensive team with a brutally flawed offense. It was probably more obvious in person than on television. They weren't creating anything downfield. That's why I was seldom concerned.

Notice that N'Kosi Perry had 3 deep balls he barely missed that could have changed the margin and the perception. Those were standard play designs. Virginia only had one semi-similar play. They scripted a receiver free down the left sideline about 20 yards downfield but Perkins threw it wildly out of bounds.

Other than that one play, nothing from them looked threatening at all.

I have no idea how Virginia turned into some juggernaut around here. For the past month there were assertions we'd lose if not get wiped out. Meanwhile the Virginia offense similarly did nothing against us last season. We handed them turnovers yet it equated to 16 points. Perkins threw for 92 yards and 3 interceptions against the Canes last season.

All throughout that game I remember thinking Perry got abused and Rosier is doing nothing but we still have a chance to pull this out because Virginia's offense is so anemic.

This.

All I heard the past few weeks was how big, bad Virginia was going to push our s*it in. You’d have thought we were hosting Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, or Ohio State. The Cavs play smart defense, despite average talent, and are below average offensively.

Miami made enough plays to win an ugly game.

Fans should be happy with a win.
