Winning Affect on Recruiting?

As Geo mentioned in the "Recruiting" Section a couple top recruits from Edison were at practice although they are not 2017 prospects. My question for discussion, although a good problem to have, is the following:

Should we have better than expected (say 10 wins), this year and a few elite prospects decide they want to be Canes. This could possibly mean that we may have to decline the commitments of a couple current SoFl commits. What would be the backlash and would it have negative affect on recruiting? In other words success could have negative affects too and what do you see those being?

as long most of the class is south Florida recruits who is going to complain . People must realize there are good players in other states as well. We need the best out south Florida for **** sure. So I will take the backlash

Mark Richt will not decline the best talent available. If the top 10 players in the country wanted in at Miami all 10 of them would be in the class no matter where they from.

Honestly it depends on "who" it is that wants to come. I don't think Richt will turn his back on those really into Miami but when you win nobody cares about feelings.

I look at it like this as long as the kid has another option to get a higher education he can be dropped. Things happen all the time just gotta be able to deal with it

Can't believe you took your time to write something as idiotic as this, and If you are a true Canes fan YOUR ACCESS ON THIS SITE SHOULD BE REVOKED! I don't see success hurting Florida State, Michigan, Alabama, or Ohio State, and we all know we are not going to keep all of the talent from SOFLO on our roster thats impossible. The coaching staff has to go outside of Florida because there is plenty of talent around and they are trying to build relationships with other high schools that just Florida ones. Where do you think the Ed Reeds, Ken Dorsey's, Brad Kayaa's, etc. came from NOT FLORIDA!!!!!

My ninja [MENTION=13418]Gator[/MENTION] Hatar is one of the most solid posters on this board. I feel where he's coming from, it's just off base, slightly. I believe the fear he's referring to is potentially burning some bridges w some coaches, parents, and kids in the So Fla communities if we forced kids out for top kids, locally or nationally. The only fallacy w/ that line of thought is I'm pretty sure we've been in the position before when we were on top of the world and it had little to no affect on kids wanting to coming here. Top kids wanting to come here is a very good problem to have
 
His point was if you drop the current south Florida commits for national talent, not if we start recruiting nationally starting next year.

Richt wouldn't drop his current commits, as he has 7-10 open spots available for new elite prospects that suddenly show interest. Doubt 25 5 star recruits going to suddenly call Richt up in January if we win a championship.

I don't want to insult you but your logic on this topic is down rite ignorant. Every coach in the country wouldn't think twice replacing a 3 star with a 5 star baller.

As for negative affects... They and their close friends may get butt hurt over it, but they know... That's football and the best man wins.
