Just like the FSU game. All the young guys, I swear to you there was once a time when VT v. Miami was annually one of the games of the year.
I can’t tell no difference line ain’t been good in a long timeSure, being down to our 3rd string Center has worked out great.
Without three starters on the OL, three of the top five Rb’s, three of the top five wr’s and your starting cb is not a gimme. Then mix in losing the go to guy Mallory in game and Arroyo already being out. There’s already no guarantees with conference games especially when you mix in the injuries on an already thin team. The cherry on top of all the injuries is a struggling OL that couldn’t even snap the ball on time most plays because of communication issues caused by noise in a tough environment. Yet we still pulled it out. I won’t apologize for a win. I’m not delusional enough to think we can overcome those injuries when all off season I said this team was a deck of cards that couldn’t handle many injuries. No matter what you think of our ” blue chip rating” this isn’t a very deep or talented team ( And no there’s no excuse for losing to MTSU).
If this team can just hold on to late October early Nov we could be somewhat healthy for the last few games and bowl. As I said after UNC “ I only care about getting better every week“. Keep taking positive steps and guys keep stepping up.
It wasn’t pretty but a win is a win.
We havent had even close to the number of OL penalties before that. Denis caused numerous drive-stunting false starts by not snapping when the entire rest of the line expected the ball to be snapped, plus he had issues with blocking and holdsI can’t tell no difference line ain’t been good in a long time
You sure about that?Cribby is not hurt
Scaife false started 3 times on one driveWe havent had even close to the number of OL penalties before that. Denis caused numerous drive-stunting false starts by not snapping when the entire rest of the line expected the ball to be snapped, plus he had issues with blocking and holds
C'mon man...you ruined it...now it doesn't sound as dramatic...You do realize we only played 3 games vs P5?
All of Duke's wins have been to really bad teams.Duke lost to teams that have or would beat us. Button up your chinstraps.
I get the point you are trying to make, my only issue is its a ****** stupid one.
Nice to see the positivity.Without three starters on the OL, three of the top five Rb’s, three of the top five wr’s and your starting cb is not a gimme. I’m seeing things to like with this team. We can do things if we stick to what we do well and grow from there.
TVD is getting back to what we expected. Colbie and Brashard are coming into their own. Defense ain’t 2001 level, but has been better overall most games than we give them credit for game.
Jumped out early and faded a bit. Still did what we needed to finish the game in victory formation instead sweating bullets on d.
We have to learn to finish. Red zone and key situations. Gattis can move the ball. He has to keep growing with the team and start punching it in the end zone more often.
Mario needs to reevaluate his approach, practice and conditioning wise. Rampant injuries seem to be following him.
In worse case scenarios, you fold up or step up, you step out or stand out. Have seen some of both with this team. Some kids playing scared, of making mistakes and making those mistakes, still. Have also watched kids step up and meet the challenges. Each week win or lose they come to play, taking larger and longer baby steps. Can’t and won’t calculate or speculate W/L. Just hope that the lessons learned carry over to leadership and that Carries over to changing the culture and mindset of these players. Coming to play, playing hard, leaning in when the **** hits the fan, and always, ALWAYS,.. reaching to exceed one’s grasp. Just sayin’ #CANESNATIONLIFERWithout three starters on the OL, three of the top five Rb’s, three of the top five wr’s and your starting cb is not a gimme.
