Wide receiver is a huge position of need for the University of Georgia in the 2016 class. Kirby Smart and his staff are hoping to hang on to four-star juco wide receiver Javon Wims (Jacksonville, Fla./Hinds C.C.).

Smart was in Mississippi bright and early Monday to check on Wims.

"He just wanted to let me know how important he thinks I am," Wims said. "He is a really cool guy and I am excited about the opportunity to compete for championships under him next season."

Georgia offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and wide receivers coach James Coley have also spent time with the 6-foot-4, 215-pound wideout.

"Coach Chaney and Coach Coley are both really cool guys that really know their stuff," Wims said. "I look forward to playing for them and with all the big-time recruits in this class."

This weekend, Wims says that instead of taking an official to Oklahoma, he will instead take an official to South Carolina, where former Bulldogs wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon now coaches.

Miami got Wims in town last weekend for an official visit. The Bulldogs will get Wims on campus last.

"I just want to see Athens and reinforce what I already like about Georgia," Wims said. "I am still 100 percent committed to Georgia. I am going to take these last two visits and make sure that is the right place for me."

* Wims is good friends with Cane commit Latrell Williams.

"I was happy for him when he committed," Wims said "He made the decision best for him, and he told me the same thing.

"I wouldn't be surprised if both of us are playing on the same team."

No way he comes here. He loves UGA and it's obvious in his interviews. Talks about em the same way Duke Johnson talked about UM.
