Willis cut again

Willis did play at about 285 and that’s just too small for an NFL tackle today. I remember Sapp put on about 15 pounds as soon as he started playing in the league. Speaking of guys who never played the run. Sapp used to say “I play the run on my way to the quarterback”.
Aaron Donald is undersized but he’s just a physical specimen in contrast to Willis. I also feel Donald’s work ethic and desire to get better surpasses Willis.

Wow. The excuses go on a long way. Willis got drafted by no one. It speaks volumes that his college position coach didn’t seem to think he shoulda have been. Sure, it’s possible simpson wanted him drafted but didn’t have the sway ... but not sure why anyone would believe that. If he was a steal, simpson would have been vocal on the topic. But he wasn’t.
Where was there an excuse for Gerald Willis?

You pretty much said if Simpson doesn't want him he doesn't belong (which I don't necessarily disagree with)... I said who's to say Simpson has that much control?

Don't be so quick to get your panties in a bunch.

Agree but unless it’s an off the field issue, this one really surprises me.

This guy was the most dominant DL we’ve had here in a decade. Far more than Allen Bails and some of the others still in the league years later.

He was also two to three years older wasn’t he? That would help no?

think he was just cut in prep for the new draft picks which we will have a lot of. He is an end of the roster guy ...maybe they cut him to give some of their new young guys a shot in camp..and give him an early shot to get on another teams roster or practice squad. I can see him ending back on dolphins practice squad if need be
Every time he is cut I'm surprised, but his last season here convinced me this guy would help a team. I really only care about NFL as it pertains to the Canes. I want them to make some $$ and get out intact.

That’s your excuse right there. Because there’s no reason to say it other than to attempt tp refute the damning observation that his own college DL coach didn’t want him on his nfl team. We may never know for certain whether simpson wanted him but didn't have ‘that much control,’ as you say, but we do know no team at all drafted him, and he never has played for the falcons despite having been an UFA, and cut. There’s basically no reason to infer simpson did want him and plenty of reason to infer he didn’t.

Size is last on the list of issues with willis. he is plenty big enough

Brethren, our whole operation has been a lie. We’ve overestimated a lot of our guys.
Yes and no.

We've had a lot of guys drafted in the last ten years, so we're clearly still a talented team.

Just the elite guys, the ones who put you over the top in college and go to Pro Bowls in the NFL. They've been going to the SEC (and the two other Florida colleges, on occasion). We all know this though - every NSD we say it.

Stacy Coley is when I got off the Hurricanes in the NFL bandwagon.

Dude got cut from an XFL team. I thought he was a solid 5+ year pro in the NFL. Baffling.

People here will say Miami players are still great NFL players. Not no more those days are over. I would never draft a cane in the first unless super certain he's a can't miss prospect.....over the years we haven't had a superior dominant player we just send average or decent players to the league.

Willis had probably the best season for a DT at Miami since Warren Sapp.

There must be some serious issues with this guy. He looks like a beast but no one wants him.
I hope things work out for him, but it likely won’t be in football.

Makes no sense to me either, unless he is just ****ting the bed.

Dolphins should not even be considering QB until next draft IMHO. Derrick Brown and all OL should be priority.

I hope Kiper is right though, if we do go QB, which we will...he now says we go Herbert and Chargers go Tua.
