Will Manny actually fire his staff?

Will Manny fire multiple members of his defensive coaching staff?

And to the OP, we all have a bad taste in our mouth after the D'O and Golden fiasco but this situation is different. Golden had success at Temple. He had a background and history to fall back on. He believed (rightly or wrongly) that he could make it work here. And so he kept insisting that it would work, even when it was clear that he should have abandoned ship and changed to modify scheme, fit, etc. Manny doesn't have that. This is his first carousel. He can't continue to plug a square peg into a round hole. Manny strikes me as the self-preservation type . . . going into next year with Baker is an iffy proposition. I don't believe friendship will play a role in his decision-making.

That said, I am concerned about the covid financial impact. If Manny wants to fire Baker, does the U have the financial ability right now to bless that move? I don't know?

Excellent article about S&C and movement and why this team always looks so poorly coached at so many positions.

Said it for years we lack functional strength. Yes we have guys that are fast and others that are strong but we lack the functional explosion.

That's a good piece. It highlights how many little things we're seemingly oblivious to as as program. It's why I continuously harp on infrastructure. We need to change how the entire program operates in order to correct these issues.

And yet, I was questioned or some reacted “dumb” when I questioned our S&C program. Everyone who’s an objectionable fan can see that we lack speed, flexibility, strength, pursuit, and coordination. Any team worth a **** make us look like goofs. 20 mph my ***.

Great article @Tetragrammaton Cane

We had a staff full of high school & G5 coaches, bro; and that includes the S&C dept.

The incessant quoting of the 20 mph stat is bizarre and a clear sign of cluelessness by this staff. I don't care that they want to track it (though it seems dumb), but when you find yourself talking about it defensively, you know you're befuddled. Hey, we just got our azzes destroyed, and the HC's comment is 'don't know what happened ... our iPhone monitor says guys ran fast here and there.' It's like that old saying goes, better to keep your mouth shut and have people wonder if you're dumb than open it up and remove all the doubt.

I've started to ask about S&C. Just because it's an improvement over the clown shows we've had around here for ages doesn't make it up to par with top programs. I mean, maybe it is ... but Manny just grabbed the Temple guy he met a day earlier and we're supposed to think this is top shelf? I'm curious, and the linked piece is interesting. Not sure it's a Feeley issue, though. Leadership starts at the top.

If he wants to remain coach, yes.
Diaz ain’t going anywhere even if he doesn’t fire a coach. The team has improved from last year to this year and I expect the same next year. With TRob on board and more to come, our defense should be much improved (coaching and talent wise).

It’s a Feeley issue, and it’s also a position coach issue. They’re “coaching” but they need to be COACHING. The little things. Details. They’re going through the motions to get through it instead of maximizing each degree of angle and mm of measurement. They know TO do them, but not WHY and that loss of understanding can’t be transmitted to the players. It’s those little things why the OL gets blown off or tip their assignments. It’s those little things why LB can’t shed blocks or react. It’s those little things why receivers can’t win 50/50 balls or get separation — even when they have a speed advantage. It’s those little things why DB’s can’t redirect receivers or get their heads around or win 50/50 balls.

There’s a saying: “people don’t do what you expect, they do what you inspect”. The latter is elite, effective, coaching — the former is hope.
Man all U sideline coaches are fuuuuuuuny.
