Well, CMR promised Joe he would call a few fades to him next year. There's that.
So Rickets is adding a 5th play?

If Jackson goes pro which is the most likely scenario how does our DE depth look next year?
Who sez you can't teach an Ol' Dawg new tricks. So Rickets is adding a 5th play?
Martin is not going to be on the team next year unless depth at DT is depleted.I think this:
DE: Garvin, Rousseau, Patchan, Joyner, Harvey, Williams, Munoz
DT: Bethel, Ford, Silvera, Miller, Martin, Blissett, Holley
Shaq could be a 1st round pick if he stayed but dammit he had such a great season the things he’s probably hearing about his draft potential is going to be hard to pass up.
Joe Jackson has no reason to stay in terms of individual gain bc he’s going to be a 1st round pick this year imo.... but I hope he stays just for a chance to win the ACC.
Pinckney had a great year as well but he should stay just to try to raise his national profile a little bit more... he seems to always get the short end of the stick in terms of national recognition but he’s one of the best OLBs in the country.

I think he’s still up in the air
NO!Anyone with ties to these players have any intel?
I know I'm naive, but if they stayed, Diaz stayed and Mark hires new OL & OC, we could have the season in 19' we could have had the year.
Maybe Quarterman Sr will stop by and drop some hints but I doubt it. Contrary to how you guys think, Shaq can enter and get drafted in the 2nd round or maybe 3rd. He’s a top 5 ILB according to a lot of scouts. His blitzing has been great this year and I think he’s shown improvement in coverage.
Joe Jack gone.
Pink/McCloud back but i would almost get Pink leaves despite all advising him to return.
Win win for Miami if he left early,I think Homer could use another year as lead back BUT I would understand why he would leave....
If all goes as planned (Cam and Lingard continue to develop; Dallas holds onto the ball) there is no way he sniffs the carries he did this year. Not with those horses behind him
Can we clone Willis?
Excellent post. Well reasoned. The only caveat is the NFL will give more "second chances" to players drafted higher. If you leave early and are 5th round or below, they don't put much extra effort into you as the cash outlay isn't there. It is hard to say if draft position is improved by coming back but most folks do improve in that last year, and they get more press/name recognition, which carries a lot of weight in the draft process. You wouldn't think so, but it does. You get more looks if you get more press. There are a lot of misconceptions in these posts.
First, if you are not realistically going to improve your draft status to a first or second round pick then the conversation is completely different. All the big paydays are in the first and seconds rounds.
There is a lot more to consider if you a late pick or may only improve from a late round to a middle round pick. These are just a few of the factors a player is considering.
What is the potential to be picked regardless of round.
After the 2nd and 4th rounds the signing bonuses drop off considerably. You may only get a 100K or less signing bonus.
After the 5th round you are probably not getting a guaranteed contract and are not making a ton of money
NFL rookie minimum is about 500k.
Majority of players in late rounds are out of the league in two years.
Practice squad players make a little over 100K minimum but some make more depending on the team.
They get to work out with actual professional coaches, trainers and players.
They are learning the Pro system and life as a pro while they can take this opportunity to improve their play and status.
You can be picked up by any team off a practice squad which improves your ability to get onto a roster as opposed to a team using a valuable draft pick.
Tony Romo, Arian Foster, Jason Peters, James Harrison, Danny Woodhead, and Danny Amendola all were on practice squads at one time. It is not impossible even if unlikely.
First and second round picks have all the reason to come back. A middle round pick has a decent payout but not much is going to change between 3 and 4 or 5 and 6. Balance all this with coming back to play one more year in college.
Personal issues?
What are the risk of playing? You are not being paid for that risk.
Insurance policies are for realistic high picks…potential late round picks are not likely getting insured.
Will you continue to be motivated to keep playing one more year while looking ahead? (Remember, it doesn’t matter how you think players should be motivated).
How good is the team? How good are the coaches, trainers and over all staff? (Bama is different than Tulsa)
Staying one more year does not automatically increase your draft status....it is not as simple as stay and get more.
Like it or not…agree or not…many players want to be pros. They may absolutely love Miami but their dream is still to be a pro. I know a lot of you hate players leaving early but no one can balance these factors for the players.
McCloud isn’t getting drafted unless we go to war with Russia.
