Anyone that understands boxing and had not gotten caught up in the Wilder hoopla, knew this: He was a very flawed fighter who happened to have a big punch. Those not drinking the Kool-Aid, also knew that the day would come when his big punch would not be enough to compensate for seriously flawed boxing mechanics/skill. Last night that took place. Fury also beat him in the first fight that was ruled a draw.

Wilder had begun to believe his own press clippings. He relished in bragging at length about all the people he had knocked out. Even recently said he would have beaten Mike Tyson. That was not going to happen.

In multiple fights Wilder has lost rounds to average fighters, due to his limited boxing skills. However he would be rescued and saved by his big punch. You generally lose rounds in boxing, by being hit more than you are hitting the other guy. Had it been Mike Tyson hitting Wilder more than Wilder hit him, Tyson would have knocked Wilder into a different zip code, long before Wilder would have saved himself by his big punch. Mike Tyson had excellent boxing skills most of his career (thanks to Cus D'Amato and Kevin Rooney). It was only later in his career, that Mike became less technically sound.

Wilder is a very overrated fighter. Will give him plenty of credit for having a big heart, but he should not be mentioned in the same breath with Tyson, Foreman, etc. His limited boxing skills are so evident, that I would pick all of the following fighters to beat him...Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe, Holyfield, Tyson, Foreman, Klitschko. All of these men were very technically sound boxers, as well as being good to very good punchers.
