Here's what actually would happen.
It would work for 4 games. Then an opponent would have enough film to dissect the tendencies and figure it out. Rick would double down and say it was an execution problem, and we'd go on another losing streak. One of Rick's biggest problems is that he doesn't try to stay ahead of his opponents. He has his gameplan, and if has superior players, he can spend the entire season practicing the same plays so the execution can be flawless.
Rick is just not a good coach. There aren't injuries or excuses to explain why the offense is so bad. This is 98% the team he expected to field (minus AR82, who wasn't much of a factor anyways).
