Why were we throwing the homerun ball

there was plenty of time and their DB are obviously defending the endzone. If marion runs a square in the middle is wide open. Why go for the jugular in that spot when we could have worked our way down to the endzone?
Because that's what the defense was giving. Beck didn't think the safety was in play.

Beck didn't even look at the safety post snap. The safety was on a beeline to help on Marion. With safety help deep, the CB was able to undercut the pass. If he looked down the safety he either would have not made the throw or thrown the ball where it should have been and that's outside to the pylon.

I watched like a replay of it and it seemed like Toney was running across the middle at the **** near 25 yard line for an easy grab

Marion must have been just the coverage buster to keep the safety back

Beck has to air that ball out to the pylon… gunning it let that corner come back and grab it

Toney was wide open for just enough to get a first. Beck was going Marion the whole way.

I’ll replay it back in my head 1000 times going forward, which is about 11 billion fewer than Beck will.

Hate it for him. He played really well for 99% of the season, and it was set up for an all-time moment. Under 2 mins left, down 6, you’ve got the ball and you’re on your home field. We had 52 seconds, and we were chewing them up in the short and intermediate game. Almost a mirror image of Louisville. It was first down, you just don’t need to take that shot. Marion also isn’t even looking for the ball. It’s badly under thrown and if your WR isn’t looking to be able to come back to it, game over. Would’ve loved to have just kept chipping away, we’re in plus territory with plenty of time.

Really hurts, man. I can’t imagine how he feels right now. Just got a little too greedy when you don’t have to. But **** what a special moment that could’ve been for him and the team and all of us. The **** you dream as a kid. ****.

Yup, I think that’s what bugs me is they were happily giving up 10-15 yard chunks,,. You had 50 seconds you get to the 25 you have at least 30seconds after a spike to take 3 shots at the end zone
Agreed, we got too greedy and we had plenty of time.
