Why this isn’t like Al Folden beating UiF

When you think about it weigman didn’t start doing anything until Miami went prevent a few times and started to play off on the receivers. Defense looked good other than that and we gave them 14 points early
Brock!!!!!!!!!

Where you been man?

I ain’t seen you around in a long *** time, welcome back!

In the stadium for both and the UF win felt a lot better in the moment.

But looking long-term, this was a very different win.

The most points we've scored against a Top-25 opponent since... 2002. Not against a Big 12 school that doesn't play defense, either.

as an aside, gattis and ponce should be charged with war crimes for what they did to the QBs, specifically TVD, last year.
4 Out of 4 in scoring a td in the redzone yesterday. What a difference a year makes. No way we would still have TVD if Gatass was still around. He probably would have been playing Texas last night.

Watching this game you could see actual improvement from our players and you can see our players getting better week to week. TVD had enough time in the pocket to take a nap. The defense adjusted when needed and we tried different things when we had 3 starters out to injury to make up for it , all things you didn’t see then.
UiF also didn’t have a 3 deep 5 star filled D-Line

We barely won that UF game and they weren’t as talented as 8-4. They aren’t the same at all.

This goes without saying, but the creativity displayed by both Dawson and Guidry is miles ahead of where Coley and D'onofrio were in 2018. Night and day and for the better. The UF game meant so much at the time given the victory over in-state rival, the impact of the Shapiro investigation, and the fact Muschamp was the ringleader in trashing UM on the recruiting trail.

While that was still a great win, yesterday's victory was more meaningful in terms of where the program is heading and how it aligns with the vision of the coaching staff. This is a much tougher team (mentally and physically). The offensive line is a unit that should never be a weakness under Cristobal/Mirabal and seeing how many clean pockets TVD had to work nearly brought tears to my eyes. But above all, Cristobal desperately needed better coordinators after last season's dumpster fire. To his credit, he made the adjustments and thus far, it has reaped big-time benefits. This win definitely feels more meaningful with regard to the long-term trajectory of the program.

It always feels just that much better to beat the Gator and FSU. They could be 0-9 and it still would

I was at the ND game and this certainty felt like that win. A dominating win over a talented opponent. In hindsight it’s easy to say that was a lucky team and whatever but in the moment it truly felt like we had turned a huge corner with that game.

Of course that didn’t work out, but I do feel like this is very different. The resources and staff are night and day. Just need to finish with a solid minimum of 9 wins and I think we stack another top 10 class and continue the ascendancy. This team is good enough to do that. The only obvious weakness is depth at several positions.

I don’t think TAMU will end up being as bad as that UF team though, didn’t they lose the GSU later that year?

Everyone who saw the UF game knows that we benefitted from same incredibly sloppy play by UF, similar to how we looked against TAMU in the 1st quarter. Our offense against UF was not good.
This is different because we just saw the kind of offense we have not seen in 2 years, and frankly we have a much better Oline and RB’s than we did 2 years ago, and arguably as good WR’s. But the key is that our QB is even better. The UM that beat UF did not have a player the caliber of TVD. We have an absolute difference maker at the most important position in the sport. And that is why this win tells the rest of college football what is coming for them this season.

I didn’t even read this thread to know it’s atrocious. We had no business winning that game vs uf. They dominated us the entire day. That game was a gift of their utter ineptitude. Yesterdays game was WON. The better team won. The more physical team won. F- thread. The games had literally nothing in common, and I know that’s what you’re saying, but there’s no reason to even think to compare the two.

As the resident parade ****er, I’ll mention that the uf loss looked good until they lost a bunch of other games. Just like fsu in 2009.

The team looked good yesterday, and I agree they looked different. Like they belonged in a game with a legit talented opponent. But the truth is we won’t know what this meant until we see what tamu does.
