Why the hype about Sanders?

He bounced around the league late in his career and his final year was with the Ravens in 2005, 17 years ago. 17 and 18 year old kids don't know that much about him except the controversy and hype from his time at Jackson State. If his celebrity matters its to older fans not young recruits. If he gets Cormani more power to him but it won't be because of his playing days. We'd be best at getting Cormani if we had Ray Lewis give him a call. Ray is more current and from the same high school and certainly known by Cormani! Have Michael Irvin give Corman a call since Sanders got whipped by him when he was at the 49ers and went to the Boys to avoid covering Irvin. He can play for the U for championships or go unnoticed as a Buffalo...I'd say beat by us but no chance Colorado ever matches the U. Colorado has been insignificant since 1990.
Auto ban?

Has he coached anyone up yet that’s gone on to the league? I remember him running some weird high school program but I don’t remember any big time kids coming out of there other than his own kids…

Is it too much to request that we refer to him as Sanders, or Coach Sanders or even Mr. Sanders as opposed to Deion or the god-awful Prime?
This is after all a Miami Hurricanes message board and the last thing we should have is adulation of a Seminole. Respect I can understand. Even I consider Sanders a top 5 CB all-time, and have great respect for what he did on the football field. But he is and will forever be the enemy.

When I did some legal work for a family member of Warwick Dunn, I called him Mr. Dunn and told him I respected his work on and off the field, but as a Hurricane I could never cheer for him as a player. And Dunn is, IMO, 100x the human being that Sanders is.

I called him Prime b/c apparently that’s how he wants to be addressed now, which speaks to his narcissism. Definitely agree w/ u on all fronts.

I hate to interject my very wrong opinion on this topic, but mentioning tackling when it comes to Corners, especially NFL Corners is an interesting metric by which to measure the position...

Unless we’re talking about CB’s from the **** “Night-Train” Lane or Mel Blount era, I don’t think people (if they’re being honest) can even think of a “good” tackling Corner in the modern era.

When people talk about, Champ Bailey, Darrelle Revis, Charles Woodson, Richard Sherman, Pat Peterson from that era, or even the current top CB’s right now like Darius Slay, Sauce Gardener, Pat Surtain II, Jaire Alexander, Jaycee Horn, James Bradberry etc, tackling hardly if ever comes up in the discussion.
All facts but u already know how this goes, he’s a seminole and could possibly be going after one of our top recruits so all logic is out of the window lol

Sanders will be riding on media hype and speculation and shielded from any real criticism until he sticks @ a school long enough to see his recruits graduate. Even now, Colorado is so bad, he can total 6 wins over the next two seasons combined and have it be considered a improvement.

Imma be honest; if Deion don’t fare well at CU, he’s going to go from media darling to media whipping boy. Trust me, many in the HBCU community rejoiced when an outmatched NC Central beat him.

He also had a baseball career that no one seem to remember but still has influence in those markets as well.

Im not gonna hate on Deion for marketing himself to the fullest. I believe he went to Jackson State with the best of intentions. That said, Jackson, Mississippi is a ******* mess. It's a completely failed city. At some point I'm sure Deion realized that his coaching legacy could not be fulfilled in a trash can city.
Right. He had the best of intentions... Fvck outta here with that. I refuse to believe ANYONE is this naive. That's why from day 1 his sales pitch to kids and their families was let's do this for OUR CULTURE, OUR COMMUNITIES... He was all about hbcu need to come back to the forefront because they represent our black communities. Just like every other ****** lame he turned around a played a race card because he knew that's what people wanna here in this day and age. & It worked on certain people. Now literally the FIRST OPPORTUNITY he gets to parlay it into a power 5 school he's gone on the first thing smokin & it's a horrible school at that furthest thing away from a black community that there is in this great ole country of ours. So spare me with these great intentions. I've known prime for more than 20 years now. That's who deion is. He's a salesperson. A snake oil salesperson. All about the glitz and he promotes no one like he promotes himself. Can't knock him for that. But you ain't gonna try to tell me how great his intentions were and blame it on that town. ITS THAT TOWN THAT HE PIGGYBACKED INTO A P5 JOB. Call a spade a spade and just cut it out.

He did do a lot of good in his short tenure there, that’s for sure. Jackson state has become a household name, and he left it better than he found it. **** he brought HBCUs back to the front of society. I mean the last time 60 minutes went to Jackson Mississippi, it was probably to discuss the desegregation of water fountains or some ****. He brought attention to a place it had lacked for my entire lifetime

Playa hater alert

Charisma is a **** of a drug.. And he got receipts he wasnt a square type from wayyyy back.. He was the epitome of what any youth can relate to, braggadocios, charasmatic, gold wearing, music makin, silver tongue, trend setting, nike/espn propaganda machine having, dual sport, high steppin, Ima talk **** saying Im gonna score, go out and do it and then dance in the endzone cuz you couldnt stop me, dominate half the field, dont even have to go to the huddle, I can suck at tackling and still get praised, etc.. And its all on film, tape, wax, etc.

We have benefits from a coach who can recruit, Deion is that and more being a NFL HOF, super bowl winner, look like the player that he most likely recruits, can talk similar like them, knows where they come from and can relate and understand their perspective. Plus he has always been a showman/salemen, so the glove fits
#1 Uncle Roscoe wants you playing for his childhood idol. = autographs = social media posts with him and maybe a beer or two
In track / S&C we call bounding "prime times"
He had a reality show, was a TV analyst on games, and has been in commercials forever
I show "Must be the moneeeeey" in my class on Budgets day, I can't be the only old fart teacher doing that kind of thing
An 18yo's dad is prob 40-45? Meaning they were 18 or so when Deion was winning Super Bowls and stealing bases / riding in helicopters to games
Those AFLAC ads are on during every game, and he's with the Five-Star signing GOAT Saban who they all know / want to play for- that's called "the rub"
People forget how much he was involved in UA + Texas HS FB + those HS all-star games
His PR team is good at social media
He signed the no1 player to an FCS HBCU, and dude is following him again

This message board calls UDFA corners who got burned by MTSU WR's "the freak." Prime is the least of CIS' concerns
