The Florida fan reaction to the new home-and-home series isn't surprising. The usual insults are being used (stadium location, crowd size, they need us more than we need them, etc.). When it comes to us they've always had 1) a massive blind spot and 2) a massive inferiority complex. They have to resort to insults because there isn't much else to talk about. We're the only rival of theirs that has consistently owned them and wins the head-to-head in almost every major college football or even pro football metric. Here's how it breaks down:
Overall, it's pretty self-explanatory. They beat us in # of Heisman's, all-time bowl record, and all-time draft picks. In every other metric, particularly those pertaining only to college ball, we beat them. These types of stats aren't comparable in any other of their rivalry situations. With FSU, UGA, Auburn, and LSU, they've got some arguments on all these points. With us, they mostly don't. They have to maintain their aura of arrogance in regard to us because we're the only rival that's consistently and historically beat them.
Also, an excuse for why they've lost the last 8 out of 10 has been the usual "Miami beat one of the worst Florida team's of all time" argument. Florida has been ranked in each one of the past 10 games we've played. Minus the 2013 season, all the Florida team's beaten in the past 10 years had winning records.
