Are we so afraid to play our own QB's. For example:

CJ Carr YARDS 2057 TD 16 INT 4 QBG 80.2
Carson Beck YARDS 1947 TD 14 INT 9 QBR 80.0

Carr a freshman versus Beck a senior. Carr getting better, Beck not looking so good. Carr has up to 3 more seasons Beck one and done. We have Luke Nichol rated the same as Carr yet we will probably hit the NIL for 2026 and watch our other 4 QB's hi the portal for teams that play the recruits recruited therefore we won't see anyone this year in prep for 2026. We fade into oblivion and Notre Dame is primed for the next 3 years. Just facts

And yet they have the same QBR. Without those crippling interceptions (other than that how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln) he's an elite dude because interceptions are obviously negative EPA and that's a main component of QBR.

Beck was the issue against Louisville, but against SMU there were deeper issues. In my opinion.

If we’re going to go Portal route, that’s why I want CJ Bailey, amongst other reasons. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining so we’ll have some continuity. And give guys like Coleman a chance to mature.

The main issue is the top HS QBs are demanding a ton of money and you don’t know what you’re gonna get at the collegiate level. With veteran guys, they have more experience, the learning curve isn’t as steep and they’re easier to project so it’s a more solid investment.

Some high school football seems more sophisticated then some colleges plus all the specialist camps there is plenty of quality QB's right out high school. Luke Nichol came and I believe he expects to play soon. This year is garbage now, a reason to see what you have on the bench that might easily be better then the mercenary. Our team is flat now, juice it up by having the guts to sit your 4 million dollar QB and see what the rookies can do. We paid Beck and we don't owe him any playing time.

Well for one Carr is not a true freshman. Two Carr was the 45th ranked player in his class where as Nickel was the 247th.

And Notre Dame had a solid, older QB in Angeli and chose to let him walk based on how they felt about Carr based on their workouts. But they wouldn’t have ever looked into the portal anyway.

I want to hit the portal every year for a QB. All top teams want the vet QB and picking 1 example doesn't help the cause. ND finally went back to a HS recruited QB and his accuracy has been bad the last 3 or 4 games. Carr's season is still being evaluated. Just for transparency, Luke is no where close to being ready to start playing for us. That was more coach talk being pushed out on you. Not close.

Here's the sobering truth. This is the state of the program... he sums up everything about this program. Worth the listen if you are a diehard Cane supporter.

We don't play our back ups until mop up duty.... Williams should play half the game.. With 15 passes minimum...

CJ Bailey is going to be battling Julian Sayin for #1 overall pick in 2027. He's going to be a one year guy wherever he is.

Either way I don’t mind another 1 year guy. It’s just nice to have that potential for an extra year of eligibility if he wants it.

I know Sellers has been talked about with Miami lately, but Bailey is the move imo.

This year is not confirmed garbage until we drop another game.

I think it's sad if we have to hit the portal for another QB next year.
