A day after the league suspended the officiating and replay crew from the Miami-Duke game for two games because of four errors the league cited in allowing the Hurricanes' desperation touchdown on a kickoff return by Corn Elder -- via eight laterals -- comes this tucked away in the weekly ACC release for its players of the week
SPECIALIST – Corn Elder, Miami, Jr., CB, 5-10, 183, Nashville, Tenn.
Elder scored the game-winning touchdown in Miami’s 30-27 win at 18th-ranked Duke on Saturday night. Elder was on the receiving end of the Hurricanes’ eighth lateral toss, which he then took 75 yards to the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown with no time remaining. Elder’s kickoff return for a touchdown is the second special teams touchdown he has recorded this season. He is the only player in college football this season to record an interception, a punt return for a touchdown and a kickoff return for a touchdown.
The league's stance is that the touchdown should have not occurred due to failure to call a Miami player's knee down, failure to call a block in the back penalty, failure to let another block in the back penalty that was called stand and failure to call Miami's Rashawn Scott for running onto the field before the play ended.
Why Elder is the special teams player of the week is as good a guess as anyone's.
Dookie Booty is still complaining till this day about the refs... Check this out tho... If we win out and Dookie loses one more, we'll be playing Clemson again.
