Outstanding recruiter. From Miami. Has had a lot of success as a DB coach.

It won't happen, but why not?

Never heard of him, but we need to start getting coaches where the first sentence doesn't say outstanding recruiter. That's what all of our coaches are now and look at us. We need some coaches that can teach Xs and Os.

He's Florida's DB coach.

Need an X's and O's type of guy! We got Golden, Coley, Brown, Carroll, etc. for the recruiting stuff!

I know he can coach, he's gotten some good results, but coaching one unit (DB), is a lot different than coordinating an entire def. Besides that would mean changing the entire philosophy, and I don't know if Al is good with that at this point.

Not sure about the last point, I'm sure he could adapt to Al's scheme and tweak it and make it more aggressive.

FWIW while at Alabama Pruitt coached the secondary. He was considered one of the BEST RECRUITERS in the country. Many thought Saben coached the secondary himself, giving Pruitt the freedom he needed to RECRUIT like a beast. He now is considered a very good coach and recruiter.

Eleven months after Florida State officially announced the hiring of Jeremy Pruitt, the first-time defensive coordinator is already earning national attention for the jobs he’s done.
Pruitt is a nominee for the Broyles Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top assistant coach.

This is why it is hard to take some of you seriously.

We have issues on defense, we need a coach who can come in and runs things himself and has experience. There is no question that this guy is a great recruiter and a good DB coach, the question is whether he can lead a defense. Now Muschamp is a poor HC but there is no question that he can coach a defense. In fact, it would make sense for T-Robinson to be promoted to DC under Muschamp because he can look over his shoulder and learn from him.

I would hesitate to consider this guy as a DC.

Nobody needs to hear about a position coach at school X (Pruitt) getting a promotion at school Y (FSU) and having success. It can be done, it doesn't mean it will always get that result.

Also, we need some guys that can actual coach. We have recruiters, we need an excellent DC to put the new talent in positions to succeed.

What does this prove, that one coach having success leads to other coaches having the same success.

Remember this guy? George McDonald. How is his first time as an OC going? He is coaching the 98th best scoring offense in football.

Why the **** does everybody keep throwing out ******* names like we're actually looking for a new DC. Coach D isn't going anywhere.

Pruitt has about 8 NFL guys he's working with too. That kind of helps the cause.

Get somebody with experience and who Al will trust to run the defense because it sucks elk nuts right now

I would be fine with this hire. I like hiring the guy who is working his way up too rather than take a guy who has experience. I wouldn't mind it

To be fair to Coach McDonald, SU had a new head coach, had two new quarterbacks, and lost their top receiving targets and a couple of OL (including NYG first round pick Justin Pugh) from last year's team. While Coach McDonald had some issues this year, he generally improved as the season went on.

All true, to be fair also Pruit walked into the complete opposite situation. Well stocked bar of talent and the same HC.
