Why not practice?

This is my theory and the Nba is also thinking the same way. Colleges are making billions of dollars every year and have medical staffs on point to handle things on the field. So why can't players get checkups every practice and then have games in a controlled environment with no fans? This way no one losses time and have to hold out on NFL DREAMS. College teams wont have to lose money on tv deals. The only thing they will lose out on ticket sales.

The NBA is thinking about having one place designated for practices and games for all teams. It would be like a Hub for all players. They will get checkups be able to train practice and play games. I think they were talking about Vegas at the university of Nevada.

At this point, we will be fortunate to get things cranked back up May 1st. 🙏 for better times.

Oh. My. God.

What is wrong with you people.
Corona has reached saturation point...

There’s a lot of contact during practice. If somebody on the team has COVID-19, they’ll spread it to other team members.

And with there being about 100 players (including the walk ons), it’s basically a statistical certainty that somebody on the Miami football team has COVID-19.

The players are young and it’s almost certain that they wouldn’t die of COVID-19 and probably doubtful they’d even become that sick. However, at some point, they’d come into contact with elderly people.

Cause there are more important things in the ******* world than a football game and medical folks should be doing that. Wtf is wrong with you guys.
Bingo! We all want to see the teams we love and we will eventually... but we're talkin about practice! Not a game, not a game... we talkin about practice. But seriously, its just a sport. This is much bigger than these little privileges we've grown accustomed to our entire lives. Sports will eventually get back on schedule, just be patient. Very patient

Here's a thought. Why not have the players take advantage of their free education instead of worrying about NFL dreams? If this has taught them anything, it should be that there are more important things in life than football. That there is life after football, and life when there is no football. Honestly, it's something many NFL players need to learn as well.

AGREE 100%

Time to emphasize the STUDENT part of supposedly being a STUDENT ATHLETE.

Hit the books! Do something that will be really be helping the vast majority of these players since most will never see the NFL

This will take several more months to clear up. At least China seems to have slowed it down so now there is a working model. Difference is China can force their citizens to comply with whatever measure their government uses to solve this pandemic. Americans are still sort of doing what they want.

The year we're about to finally solve our QB issues and we get a pandemic!?! Un f***** believable!!!

Lol if you believe what the Chinese Communist Party says about how they've gotten rid of coronavirus.

It does China no good to lie about this. Its a pandemic. If they are lying the truth will come out no matter what they say.

I think that even people in China know the government's lying about coronavirus. But of course nobody openly questions what the government says. Question the government in China and you end up dead-or wishing you were dead.

I don't think China would be as concerned about its people finding out they are playing with the numbers as the other nations of the world finding out. The condemnation they would receive worldwide if they were telling huge lies isn't worth the small benefit of being first.

The challenge is COVID-19 is highly infectious so all it takes is 1 person to test positive for everything to get shut down.

It's pretty hard to isolate thousands of personnel including players, coaches, executives, training staff, medical personnel, food staff, equipment staff, cleaning staff, security, etc. You have to do it like a bigger more extreme version of the German engineering crew from Better Call Saul, with lots of sanitation. Then you have to have the resources to test all those people constantly.

Your theory is the only way to do it but it's hardly foolproof. College athletes won't be thrilled about being kept away from family, friends, and tail. NBA athletes will be even more upset if they have to be separated from loved ones (and tail). Like Better Call Saul you could wind up with major rebellions. But chances are someone will test positive at some point anyway, and it will be a bunch more $$ down the drain.

This is the time for fans to start coming to terms with the very possible scenario of no sports for several months. Setting your expectations high is a recipe for disappointment.
This...

The only way you could hold and run practices with one team for instance...
#1. All players and coaches and/or other personnel that interact with each other, have to test negative for the virus
#2. All of those same people have to stay in one location throughout the duration of all practices being schedule. (24/7)

...then you still run the risk of someone contacting the virus from outside influence, because people still have to eat (who and where did the food come from), the facilities still have to be maintained (locker rooms, bathrooms, bunks etc. have to be cleaned and who is doing this, and where have they been or who have they come in contact with)

These are just some example of why you cannot run organized sports really at any level. The risk at coming on contact of the virus is far too great of a liability for anyone to have to deal with.

Look if the NBA is going to do this and they will for you life is more important people. They will have to test everyone and make sure they are free of the virus and then let them play, practice or do whatever to keep things normal. If YOU ask me testing players and making sure they are healthy is the schools job anyway correct? The NBA, the NFL all have there own doctors and medical facilities to handle players in there own organization right? This really cant be a dumb idea If the leagues are trying to do this.
Sports period have bought people together on a wide scale esp with racism. So why couldn't this bring people back to a good place?
