Why is the defense getting a pass?

Yes, the offense sucks balls but the defense gave up 24 points in the first half, 14 on Clemson's first 2 drives.

DJ Ukelele ran around and through us like we weren't even aware of him.

I credit them for playing tough in the second half (until the last 8 minutes) but everyone in America knew that game was over at halftime.

Actually, it was over before it started but I always harbor some foolish optimism.

GO CANES!!!!

Besides Njalik, Messidor, Kitchens, and a few other young guys.. We already know these guys ain't it.. Diaz built this roster with desperation. There is no size or speed anywhere on defense

I'm not giving the defense a pass. Every team with a pulse has destroyed us on 3rd down. Sure, it's unrealistic to expect us to stop every 3rd down. I know our offense can't convert 3rd and micrometers, but I don't expect our D to stop to every 3rd and short. However, I don't think it's asking too much to stop all these 3rd and forever situations. It defies logic how easily the opposition converts 3rd and long. I've never seen anything like it.

Well they aren't perfect and don't get a pass but the defense can at least make plays. ****, they nearly put more points on the board than the offense did today.

Our D line looked like my nephews lining up against me. And those dudes are the strength of our D. Clemson sucks by their standard and are still flirting with the playoffs. We got gashed by a directional school from a state with only one major road.

The D got out talented but still fought and tried to execute. They don’t get a pass but I do feel for them as the 0 got shut down for 8 yards in a half and they saw more time on the field then is reasonable.

Every ACC team we play has NFL guys except for us. We get beat with personnel and coaching. That is why we suck.

The offense puts the defense in disadvantageous positions. Two turnovers in our own territory and a safety allowed. That’s 16 points to Clemson right there.

They know their offense won’t do d!ck, and they limit CU to 24 points and create what 4 turnovers?

In 2022, that’s enough to win A LOT of games with a merely competent offense.

When this historically putrid offense isn't capable of putting up more than 10 points against any half decent team, it's kind of irrelevant what the defense does.

Defense isn’t great but Steele is trying to put guys in position to succeed. But penalties are keeping drives alive, teams are now dinking and dunking us because they know we are either going to be a step to slow or just miss a tackle.

Not giving him a pass…but I think if we had just even a touch more speed in the back things would be a lot different. It also sucks when you know in a day and age of high scoring football it has to suck knowing you have to be perfect. 24-10 we get a stop and then do nothing with it.
