Why is the ACC down this year?

The ACC hasn't been "up" in a long time. Yeah, we as a conference have had national title contenders in Clemson and FSU to hang our hats on, but 2-6 in the league have not been good.

Makes our level of suffering even more frustrating and embarrassing.

Seeing how it is entirely impossible to run and offense, score or even win a game for that matter, with a poor OL does that mean both teams lose when they play or will they each team just tie every game.

We had one year I think it was 2016 were we had a bunch of ranked teams and pretty sure we went like 11-1 in bowl games. Same year clemson won the naitonal title. Everyone was saying the ACC was top dog or close to it.

Talent is the answer. Just watch the top 6 teams they have the studs. They are far more consistent week to week. A long with better coaching. Lets see who is the most talented ACC team? Could it be Clemson!!

The conference had a great year in 2016.

But right now it’s in rough shape. Aside from Dabo, It’s best coaches are concentrated among its less talented programs (Cutcliffe-Duke, Clawson-Wake Forest, Babers-cuse, Mendenhall-UVA).

Meanwhile, 3 of its most important programs are led by proven failures or have questionable situations. Fuente is on the way out at VT (and leaving behind a mess), Taggart is likely to eventually get fired at FSU, and Manny is a huge question mark.

Then mediocre coaches at BC and Pitt.
New staffs at GT, Louisville,Miami, UNC.

Just a bad situation. The conference needs a majority of the new coaches (or soon to be new coaches in the cases of VT and FSU) to turn out well in order to rebound.

So, wait....the coaches just sit around drinking beers all week until the game?

Are you beating one of the other 6 teams you named because you just have more talent? because they have a lot too.

With enough talent you can Larry Coker your way to a championship...maybe. But you also said something about consistency.....

Top six teams all have stud Offensive Lineman. They're nasty and they push people off the ball... IMHO, clemson may be the weakest link only because their line isn't as strong as it has been recently. Its football 101. Dominate the LOS; Dominate the game. The top 6 can do that

The ACC (especially the Coastal) is usually not good. But I don’t remember the conference being this bad in a long time.

Anyway, we probably have the worst scedule in the Power 5. With our OOC scedule, ACC Coastal scedule, and playing FSU and Louisville outside the division.

And I’m not certain we’ll make a bowl game.
