Why is clemsons 17 class so small?

Dabo doesn't kick guys off scholarships if they do not perform like Saban and they just don't have space
 
Dabo does not believe in oversigning, he said he only offers what scolarships are available, if they lose 12, thats all they give...12. They also said they return more players than any other school. He said players want to stay because of the culture and atmosphere. He says he doesn't understand how teams sign the 25 limit each year, that's 100 players and 25 freshman don't start anywhere. Just his philosophy, it may catch him short on some years, but he won't oversign. He said it comes down to simple math last 3 classes were 22, 26, 24, so small class this year...

Thats misleading by Clemson

Clemson signed 22 in 2016, 26 in 2015, 22 in 2014, 23 in 2013, 20 in 2012, 29 in 2011, 23 in 2010

Thats misleading by Clemson

Clemson signed 22 in 2016, 26 in 2015, 22 in 2014, 23 in 2013, 20 in 2012, 29 in 2011, 23 in 2010

Why is it misleading?

From the 2013 to 2016 recruiting classes Clemson has signed 93 players but in that same time frame they've had the following underclassmen declare for the draft:

Sammy Watkins
Jayron Kearse
Shaq Lawson
Martavis Bryant
Travis Blanks
Deandre Hopkins
Mackenzie Alexander

So they've signed 8 more (93) than the 85 limit but has had at least 7 leave early.
