Why don’t we have rivalry weekend too?

The sad realization that we are irrelevant saddens me. Even the FSU game only held any meaning because we both suck right now.

Be cool to start one. ND would be great since we have a history with them. I'd love to manufacture an annual game with USC as the last game of the season. I thought UCLA was their traditional rival but they played last weekend.

Granted this iteration of the Miami Hurricanes is straight trash, but a girl can dream.

Who would we play? FSU and UF play. The only option would be BC or VT actually doesnt VT play VA.
I wish BC were are rival. But we can’t have them. Conference made FSU and that is our only yearly crossover. Can’t have two. FSU is required to call UF its rival. It ain’t.

The most realistic team for it to be (that we play every year) would probably be Pitt. The 4 North Carolina schools should be playing each other on this weekend. Leaves Pitt as the only option.

Our biggest rival plays their other biggest rival the same weekend, and has for a long time. What we should do is play FSU the same weekend in October that OU plays Texas and a few other rivalries traditionally play.

USC closes the season with ND when the game is in Los Angeles. ND hosts the game midseason in the alternate years, and I believe closes with Stanford those seasons.

Knew I was forgetting something there. Be cool if we could throw our hat in that rotation. Play USC last game of the year on the years they play ND mid-season. As apathetic as I am right now towards the program I know I'm a ******* and will be back next year. Would be cool to have a spotlight game this week every year.

FSU vs Florida (that’s not changing)
Clemson vs South Carolina
Georgia Tech vs Georgia
Louisville vs Kentucky
Virginia vs Virginia Tech
North Carolina vs Duke
NC State vs Wake Forest
Boston College vs Syracuse
Miami vs Pittsburgh (unless we could find a permanent out of conference opponent that would be appealing)

I agree, just don’t know who. I can’t see ND scheduling Miami on an annual basis. Let alone modifying their traditional schedule.

Yeah, Pittsburgh seems to be the only team ‘open’ for a rivalry, even if manufactured.

Although, the Panthers SHOULD play Penn State this weekend.

It would be amazing though if somehow we did play ND every year and it be the last weekend of the season.

Correct. USC closes the season with UCLA and Notre Dame back to back in even years, while odds years the finisher is UCLA. When I was a student those even years were terrific entertainment, especially if UCLA were dispatched. The Irish alumni would show up on campus seemingly within hours after the UCLA game.

Miami lost its rival when the Gators ran away. During the '70s we'd always close with Florida. Everyone assumed it would always be that way. Often Florida and Florida State would meet in midseason, then Canes/Gators in the finale. Then late in the decade Florida started playing Florida State and Miami back to back to end the season.

We should have sensed what was going on with the gallant Gators. They used that two state rival excuse to whine that their schedule was too difficult. For a while the Miami game was shifted to beginning of the season, then dropped altogether.
