Why does Miami hate ND?

There are undertones for sure, but our behavior wasn't acceptable either. No one wants to own it but we brought a lot of stuff on ourselves back then. There are racist people everywhere and I'm not condoning that, but you can't blame our team's bad behavior on racism either. That's played out.

Why?

Its been documented above

Its the same reason why Jimmy loved, loved, beating ND, Oklahoma and Nebraska

All the big tradition schools, seen as the way to do it, white players, and they all hated Miami, and had the media paint Miami as the villain for racist reasons so when Jimmy beat the **** out of all of them, Miami was seen as being the villain
He wanted to beat Oklahoma and Nebraska because they curb stomped him at Oklahoma State. He wanted to beat Notre Dame equally as bad because Holtz got the job at Arky over him. It wasn't a white thing. Tony Rice, Jamel Holloway, Keith Jackson, Chris Zorich, Steve Taylor, etc were all these teams star players and black as coal. Our behavior was not good. You can't blame everything on racism.

Miami was hated more for being a winner, but as a winner they were the ultimate villan because they were winning yet not winning with class.

I've always hated ND! It's just born in me. I also hate Penn State. I think Miami needs to start scheduling bigger games in the pre-ACC time in the schedule. Like this year! We got ND and Gators! This is how we beat the "ACC is a lesser conference" pablum. If we consistently have some big games in there, we are taking that talking point away. Also look how much press we are getting talking about ND and Gators!
We must be related because I've always hated ND, Penn St and Ohio State - even before I knew about UM.

Because they are a morally repugnant outfit like UF and FSU.

While UM/ND was a rivalry, it wasn't hostile until the Nov 30, 1985 game.

ND had hired a HS coach Gerry Faust and this was his last game after five years that went from mediocre to bad. Everyone knew Faust would be fired after this last game, but ND and college football decided he was a "good man" and should go out with class.

The color announcer was Ara Parsehgian who had been ND's (successful) head coach prior to Faust. Parsehgian was a ND man through and through. He decided after a certain UM lead that was enough and UM should just quietly run out the game so as not embarrass "good man" Gerry Faust. And Parsehgian viewed ND as an institutional icon. He thought ND was the center of the universe and should always be viewed with reverence.

Jimmy Johnson didn't agree and ran up the score 58-7 :ROFLMAO: Parseghian went ballistic, which was hysterical to us. And all the proper people in college football criticized JJ and UM. It ****ed all of them off more when JJ went on TV and said he didn't care lol

That's when the hatred started

I remember the game very well because I was there. Unfortunately, those clowns like Ara, Pat Haden, and Brent lambasted UM. Jimmy J put his third and fourth stringers in but ND couldn't compete with them. Growing up as a kid in a Catholic school I just despised ND and Ara. He the the one man who should have NEVER EVER complained as his teams ran up scores all the the time against lesser opponents. Pat Haden too was another at USC that was part of the John McKay era that put big numbers up against lesser schools. Brent just hated UM but I hope we beat their tails on August 31 just like when Dennis E and Marc Richt did. GO CANES!

To be honest, I felt for Gerry Faust that time we destroyed him. He had this sad, helpless dazed look in his eyes. Nice guy but way overmatched.

ND went from hiring a NFL coach in Dan DeVine who was only like 500 at GB, to hiring Jerry Faust from a HS. I was at the OB 24-0 whooping we gave them in 87 and the Catholic vs Convicts in SB in 88. 3rd and 43 in 89. I was at the Shamrock Series game at Soldier Field in 2012. I was at the Rock for the 17 victory that was like the Glory Days. Their was hate for many years after 88. That hate was gone from me by 2012. I don't like them still, but the hate was gone. I really dislike a lot of teams with UF at the top, but I am to old to hate over a sport these days. I am a Gen Xer myself who yearns for victories of past.

My hate was always more for Holtz than ND.
ND is just another blue blood like Meatchicken, OSU (though my hate is still deep there), Bama etc.

PSU really isn’t a blue blood, once upon a time they got screwed over quite a bit, but JoePa was a POS.

From my perspective, having been there during the great days of this rivalry, and having a connection to both Universities is that it can be a great rivalry again and is setup for that. We play them a ton over the next 10 years, and both teams are ascending. The players and staffs understand the history, and we are back where we started. The mighty Irish coming to South Florida to face what will be a Miami team with some things to prove, looking to send a message. Great game for both Schools and College Football. I expect it to live up to the hype.

As annoying as the ND fans can be, nothing was as bad as the State Penn crew during the JoePa era. Believe me, they were an insufferable, and often bigoted, crew. They have tempered their arrogance somewhat after the Jerry Sandusky scandal. It's as if they know opposing fans have the Sandusky thingie lock and loaded if they talk nonsense about other programs.
Funny you mention the Sandusky scandal as temperng their arrogance. I don't disagree. I would however add that at least in my experience, it's a "don't go there" topic with them. I have some family relatives that are massive Penn State fans. I heard A LOT of mierda through the years regarding Miami being thugs and Penn State's "student-athletes doing it the right way." And by a lot, I mean every opportunity they had to say something they would. I held a degree from UM while they held memories and photos of JoePa fondly. Mostly I ignored their stupid comments that were usually dripping in racism. Then the Shapiro nonsense went down and it was ramped up on their end again.....then Sandusky broke. I didn't have to say a word. Not one fuggin word. To this day, nothing has ever been mentioned aloud by them about ole Jerry and JoePa's cover up. Not one. It's like they pretend that the 25 years of prior commentary never happened. If that's the way they want it, fine...but their silence makes me grin inside knowing that they know that no matter what, no matter if it was Uncle Luke paying reward money for TDs or Nevin putting boats and hoes together, what Penn State did was so much more shameful than anything that ever happened at the University of Miami. F them and double F Notre Dame.

Amen!
JoePa was as close to the Second (football) Coming to their lot as anything I've witnessed, whereas in reality the only Coming occurred in a locker room shower by his defensive coordinator. What a disgraceful chapter not only for that program but for that school and many of their fans, alums, and boosters who to this day have never recognized the horror inflicted upon young boys by THEIR program.

It's like it was no big deal to play tummy sticks with 13 year old boys in the DC's basement, but God forbid a BLACK player have gold teeth showing when he smiles after scoring a TD. WHole thing is/was disgusting.
