Why does every "feel good story" work against us..

For whatever nonsensical reason(s), a lot of people hate us. You won't get "feel good stories" from anywhere/anyone but inside our program. It's not worth dwelling on. Go Canes.

Miami can’t sign 75 kids a year. The funny part is nobody cares when other programs “miss” locally or simply dont have room for a borderline kid.

It’s only gonna get worse when we keep signing elite national kids.

There are usually 2 variations of this story:

1. The guy that really wanted to come the U but wasn't recruited and then returns home to win it all like we just witnessed with Mendoza and others, or

2. The guy the U really wanted but shunned his hometown team cause they weren't "winning enough" and went elsewhere to win big like Jeremiah Smith and others

In both scenarios they always cheer for the player while the U and this City get trashed.

I can't wait for the day we have a hometown guy that actually stays home and the TV cameras pan back to his parents in the stands while the band is playing and cheerleaders are cheering.

Why not us?
You know the answer to that

Empathy is contagious - and this country is full of empathy.

UM players and fans are a different species. We hit hard, we don't apologize, we don't have a reverse gear, and we eat raw meat.

UM when clicking is something to be feared. Nation-wide.

Yes, UM is solely responsible for multiple NCAA Football Rules changes, and yet, UM Football when tuned up destroys major programs on the grass.

I'm just surprised the media didn't find the little three year old girlfriend, who eventually had an untimely death, and how the QB still sends flowers to her grave every birthday, and spends his spare time weeping over what could have been. Let's all cry in synch.

On our side - yeah - maybe Fitzgerald ran over a kid's puppy when it dashed out in front of him, and yeah - maybe he didn't bother stopping - it's not like he's a Veterinarian.

Yeah, maybe our QB didn't shake hands - but DID offer a middle finger. The Rule Book doesn't stipulate handshakes.

When hated - EARN IT!

all racial fellas

We're still the bad bad men from the 1980s who beat the blue bloods and embarassed them doing so

We have the son of Cuban immigrants as our head coach in the city of Miami and by all accounts a coach who is an exceptionally well spoken and good man

Yet, thats never the story we get about of team

Yet somehow, Cig, Sark, Lane, Riley, Franklin, Laning all get this superor narrative

And that should light a fire under him even more. The fact he lost the title game in his own city. Put more fuel so he is more motivated.

He is ****ed and he should be. The job is not finished and we can't say those famous words till its done and continue that standard.

In another parallel universe....

University of Miami HC Curt Cignetti and Fernando Mendoza lost to former Canes OL and current Indiana HC Mario Cristobal and the Hoosiers after taking a flyer on former UGA QB Carson Beck.

I feel like that's just how it is. We're so hated, no matter how it happened, this is how it always plays out. The narrative will always be against us.

Crazy, I really would love to believe that we are beloved in another universe, but we are Miami. Us against the world.

IN EVERY UNIVERSE.

Honestly, that's what makes it best to be a Miami Hurricane.

Did you want to stay home to go to college or try a new area?

The worst is the sofla curse.
Mendoza Columbus
Ponds Chaminade Madonna
Sharpe Miami Northwestern

Take those 3 players off that team and they’re not even in the playoffs and if they did make it they don’t win this game.
Or we could give IU coach his flowers. Dude is the best in the business right now….Talent Identifier, Talent Developer, and Program CEO.

Think about this for a moment:

Ponds was at JMU for crying out loud, Sharpe committed to IU over who exactly, and Mendoza had about 3 offers and chose Cal).

Cignetti is that dude, he’s #1 right now, so it’s not about what we didn’t do with hometown kids but about what that guy was able to do with everyone’s leftovers.

That being said, the thing we should feel really good about is that Mario just entered the Top 10 coaches circle with two consecutive 10 win seasons and a National Championship appearance
