Our offense played well yesterday, against a terrible defense. That said we only scored 34 points and had drives stall out. We insist on snapping the ball with a couple seconds left on the play clock and yesterday doing so cost us a TD (the illegal shift penalty). After every play they just walk back to the huddle with no sense of urgency. With our talent advantage in the ACC why wouldn’t you want to put pressure on a defense and just keep hammering them with no let up.
I appreciate Dawson calling some different stuff but he also throws plays away. We had a 1st and 20 and he reset to run a A gap dive with Pringle which went for 2-3 yards. Thankfully he got bailed out on 2nd down when Beck bought time, scrambled left and hit Marion on the sideline for a nice first down. Against a competent defense are we converting that? The numbers tell us we aren’t.
Good win yesterday but we still have issues on offense IMO. And those issues continue to be personnel and tempo.
